CPU/Mobo Fixing Double boot for Abit Motherboard

man that is wat im talking abt...u must b using some bios wch is newer than the v12....such as v14 or v15 etc..
u may not hv double boot...coz its fixed in those bios...

but thrs a bug known as FSB reset in those bios...
that is much more annoying than the double boot.. :ohyeah:

The double boot problem never went away with any BIOS update for me - and I used all the BIOS versions as soon as they were released :(

Surprisingly I never saw the FSB reset bug on my board, and I know why ......because this bug is NOT important for me, it would not have bothered me much ..... the double boot was what I did not want at all on my setup so in keeping with Murphy's Law I got that bug :P

every1 have der double boot bud fixed with atleast d v15 wch i hv myself tried nd heard frm many members hr @TE...

but der is definitely a fsb reset if u OC ur cpu... with all bios except v12...

u can even try that out buddy..
OC ur comp..
remove the power cord...
let it remain for sumtym..
plug in ..strt...on single boot( no double boot)..then c it ur self..
its a mass production buddy...every1 is experiencing this bug... :ohyeah:

....err.... my IP35-E died after 10 days of use and I did not accept another one as replacement. So I dont have the MoBo to try your suggestions, I cannot remember which BIOS version I last ran but it was about a month back - end of May.
 
another new thing that annoyed me is that the IP35E would not boot when its set on default BIOS settings (CMOS jumper in 1-2 position).. it would rather boot when the CMOS jumper was removed and put in the 2-3 position.. just like we go about resetting the BIOS, but its the other way round.. when booting the system on the 2-3 position it would natually reset the BIOS settings to default..... atleast it booted though :@ .. It was on BIOS v.17 when the stupid thing started occuring, i had to update it from Flash Menu to V.18... since then i ve kept the mobo outside the cabinet horizontally. :| ... setting my eyes on P45 Chipset now ..enuf

Is the double boot bug totally 100% gone from the IP35-E with the new BIOS ? I really DISLIKE the Intel MoBo I now use and would like to change soon, but the double boot bug is something I absolutely cannot live with as I re-start my computer often in a day, and it used to double boot every time with all the BIOS versions I last used :(
 
nopes.. it still there with the v18 of bios.. and now it takes about 2-3 instead of 1-2 seconds to start after the halt.. ! .. V18 is not official available on the website.. but i got it from the abit flash menu

Yeah the double boot prob has been fixed with the newer..atleast with versions 15nd 16 wch iv tried..rest im not sure of..

Incase of older bios versions...like the most stable v12..

Restarting the computer frm windows wont coz double boot at all....

You will encounter double boot only nd only if u cold boot ... or press d restart it via cabby switch...

If u dont intend 2 OC stick with ne newer version of bios...

single boot...but FSB reset..

If u wanna OC...go with v12...

it will hv double boot only at startup..thats it..

v12 retains ur OC settings...

whereas other versions reset these settings on cold boot...but once u restart

they will also show up the oc settings...

I am using Bios V16 and so far I havent experienced any double boot (fingers crossed).

Can you pls explain what FSB reset is ? I OC my cpu only slightly.
"remove the power cord..." Do you after shutting down the comp?:ashamed: In that case what is the difference that I would see?

Yes buddy, thats why I was reccommending TX650, HX620 too many doubts abt mobo & UPS compatibility.

AT forum users reported same. only with E iirc, havnt read anything scary abt PRO.

I had read about the problems between the Corsair PSU and the Abit MoBos before I got the MoBo, but I took a chance as there is no other MoBo that looked good to me in that price range. I wanted to buy the Abit IX38 but it was priced over my budget. Strangely the IP35-E was not working at my place, in the case and out of the case as well, but when I took it to Prime it worked fine there. :no:

EDIT:

@SidhuPunjab - The IP35-E had worked perfectly for 10 days before it went to MoBo Heaven, so I dont think it was a problem with the Corsair. Could the PSU have had a problem with the MoBo after 10 days use ?
 
i have Coolermaster Extreme 600W .. frankly speaking the RMA was a no show.. the same issue came up the moment i booted up the system. It was resolved by myself after i upgraded the BIOS to V18 (issue where the mobo would not boot in the default CMOS jumper position - NOT the doubleboot issue) .. another friend of mine has the same double boot issue.. but he has the TX650 .. :S
i dnt think there is any connection with the PSUs ..
 
Eazy sir I may sound bizzare, but HX620 has issues with G92 cards too, newer GPU BIOS may fix issue for some, but we cant rule out that no1 is facing issue. Saw threads on EVGA forums, and following link also stated that -

I have an EVGA 8800GTS card which I have now run for around a year with the HX620 with no problems at all :tongue:

But whilst we are talking about incompatibilities of the HX620 PSU's then we must mention the buzzing sounds from HX620 PSU's when an APC Back-UPS is used.
