Flipkart...Could be Indian Amazon ?

I had ordered a 32gb sd card and received it in 3 days...then 2 days later it stopped working...
I called them back and they just asked oh its not working...we will ship a replacement...
and the same night they shipped the item (Sunday) and I will mostly get it today since its out of delivery
I can only guess what would have happened if I had bought this from a local shop or another online shop....
I am so glad I stuck with flipkart even though it cost me 80 rs extra compared to ebay

dosen't sd cards have warrenty?? if so local shops would have replaced as well........would have saved 80 bucks
anyways flipkart dosen't replace so easily.....they test the thing,dosen't just take your word for granted......it means a whole batch of those sd cards was bad....tells something about flipkart eh??:bleh:

I have ordered many products from Flipkart in the last couple of years & recent purchase being the entire components for my rig( Total 30k). I knew the price of computer components were on the higher side compared to nehru place still went with Flipkart due to past good experience and the option to buy stuff on credit card EMI. But i certainly regret my decision of getting it from them. They were very rude to me when i tried to return a 299rs Coolermaster fan. They would simply not take it back although i spoke to 5 different reps and a manager. Eventually i emailed their CEO and wrote about my experiance in mouthshut when their corporate escalation guy got in touch with me and said he will take the product back. it's been 5 days since and my product is not even picked up yet.
Flipkart is good till you don't have any issues but the moment something goes wrong they will make you run from pillar to post. In order to get any computer component replaced you need to speak with their Customer service followed by tech department and at last you need to wait for a callback from computer department. Most of the times their tech department people including supervisors are very rude. They don't value your time. I was on call for more than 2 hours just speaking with their rep to return a cooler master fan.
I used to advocate about online shopping to my friends & highly recommended Flipkart to my friends but my last experience showed me that they cannot & will not take effort to match the quality of service provided by Amazon. If anyone is expecting the amazon kind of service from flipkart look elsewhere.

They are going to run out of money in 9-10 months. And investors are not giving them any elbow room. There prior investors (Tiger) have reached their limit. Primary reason being: Incorrect product line addition, and mismanagement of portfolio. Lame. They came back to the style of running an online e-store like a market place rice/dal shop. Usual practice.
Reading the above testimonies, I have become damn wary of ordering online from Indian e-retailers. Till things do not go bad, it rocks like hell. Once that happens, it is really really bad. F&U just jacked me, so am careful now. I was also a big advocate of e-Online in India. But I take back my words. We still need to learn how to do business in this model.

Except for some books I already browsed. Among PC components, Hyper 212EVO price is good and CM 4 in 1 120mm fan set price is awesome.

I don't believe there is anything wrong in having a fast portfolio provided that they can manage it well. There are a few categories which does not give huge margins like computer components, Mobiles etc so they need to make up for it by selling high margin products from different portfolios like Toys, fashion accessories and those kind of things. I will not be surprised if flipkart opens a Fashion store in their website since it's one margin driven portfolio
The area where flipkart seems to be struggling is to maintain customers. I for one was extremely happy with them and would have recommended many people from their store however off late neither their policies or prices are customer friendly. As an Online website you will either sell products because of heavy discounts or loyal customer base( or word of mouth as we call it) however flipkart seems to be doing very less to keep their Loyal customers. it came to such a level that i had to email their CEO directly & write a negative review on mouthshut to sort out such an simple issue with a low value product. Imagine the fate of people who have ordered big value items like TV's or Ac's and end of with a defective/ damaged product.
Flipkart did a great job doing AD's on TV advocating online shopping and their 30 days return policy which would have fetched them a lot customers but the prices seems to be way off the mark for many items. There are some items like processors which are priced atleast 2,000rs more than local market. I could understand an online website selling a heavy product like TV's for higher price because of their exhobirant shipping fees however can't believe that a i5 processor weighing less than 500 gms has 2,000 rupees difference compared to market. Flipkart being such a giant retailer would be getting much better prices from distributors/ company compared to a local store guy in nehru place or lamington road

Same experience here also , had ordered an epson printer which came with a broken cartridge case ,reported this to them only minutes are receiving the delivery . They had asked me for the pics and I mailed them the pics immediately but still they would not replace it . They said they ll get it repaired and stuff . I asked them that why should I make do with a repaired thing when am paying for a new one and all sorta talks . In the end I had to fight for a month to get it replaced . Since then am thinking if buying some expensive component online is a bad idea after all .
Absolutely right statement , until you have a problem its all fine , like it is with some fortunate people here but if you have a problem , you can see their true color .
And this all after being a loyal customer since a long time , was absolutely shocked when i felt that it did not matter to them .
And I know many guys who would agree to that line I highlighted .
Amazon ? FAR from that , very FAR ! and am sure flipkart would never reach there.
I am dealing with them since the website was still new and had limited products . That time they were nice , very friendly , etc . But it seems success has gone in their heads and now they dont care about it because losing some handful customers would no longer be a bother . I have noticed this attitude everywhere in the Indian market ! .
Bank guys behaving rudely , infact when the banks also actually need your money , arrogant shopkeepers , super arrogant govt officials , bike or car dealerships show attitude as if we doing are some charity to oursevles , their attitude is my brand is famous , so the guy will anyways buy the car/bike , why care about being nice , etc a lot of things ! .
This is a part of our ' market ' society i guess . This thing is the same right from a small shopkeeper to the biggest firm . People just cant digest success here . Am not saying all are like this and thank god they are not but still , I dont think there would be the same attitude towards the customers abroad ! .

Same experience here, everything was going well till my 8th order, which was a 2TB Ext HDD, where they took a month to deliver it, I didn't cancel the order coz prices skyrocketed by then and my order was of old price.
Then came second issue where they had sent me a very old stock product, they sold me a 2007 manufactured Thrustmaster Run N Drive gamepad, which had it's rubber coating completely melted by the time I opened it, it took me over two months to resolve the issue and get a refund.
Stopped ordering from them since then, but ordered a couple of fans & CPU cooler last month, only to know that the situation hasn't changed, they mailed me two days later that one of the products will be delayed, then again two days later that the remaining products will be delayed as well. Cancelled the order, got a refund and ordered the same set from eBay, got them within two days.
Flipkart is not the same it used to be.

Actually I think it is the typical problem of us, ordering the wrong stuff from the wrong source.
flipkart book and games delivery service remains unmatched, I have not had a single problem on this front. Most issues I read here stem out of the product portfolios newly incorporated by them, notably --
Just my point of view, why they are facing so much flak. If they can better educate their call-centre jockey's how to respond to a particular situation and maintain proper pricing across their product ranges they still have a chance to be India's equivalent to Amazon.com [they are already better than Junglee.com in my opinion]. Peace!!
* Another piece I forgot to add, the 30 day replacement policy is okay for products like books / game CD's where the product in question is reasonably small and can be collected by a delivery guy who is making a sweep of the particular area. For problems with consumer electronics and computer peripherals I think it shall be best if we start complaining about the poor consumer policies of the parent company and not flipkart. Because they are just a retail front and as that it is not their prerogative to support customer for warranty on the other hand for DoA items I do agree it is best to complain to the Customer Care [as high up as possible] that due to poor delivery standards the product is damaged [and pray they actively follow it up].

I do agree that Fail-TEL has some crappy customer care support, especially their Relationship Centres the name itself is a PHAIL in describing their actual purpose, at a relationship centre you cannot --

- computer peripherals, most of their call-centre guys know squat about a CPU-cooler hence become apprehensive and aggressive when faced with these issues.
- huge consumer electronics, I for one find it really risky ordering stuff like LCD's and microwaves online. Not because I am wary of the service but rather the delivery guys, they try to tie up such stuff as fast as possible and you already know the condition of roads in India.
- over expansion of sales catalogue without a steady supply of the products advertised, once it is gone they are at the distributor's mercy. Happened twice to me with an older game title.
- over-pricing certain products, horribly.

- recharge your talk-time;

Mmm..nice PoV. A CC job is still seen as low end, and non-specialist in India. So people are not trained and upskilled about product lines. It is really not the fault of the speaker on the phone, but more over the company. All Indian companies with a contact center, do this. Probably banks are a bit better (not sure about ICICI though); but it is an aspect which is grossly underrated and mismanaged in India. A customer center, is usually seen as a bolt-on to a service delivery model, not as an intrinsic and important parameter. Bansal's have a lot to learn. Innovation and first - come advantage are useless, if sustainability and correct business ethics are not adhered too.

Spot on. They come with a bang and soon get unstable. Ebay wins as their business concept is very clear imo.
