In Flower, the surrounding environment, most often pushed to the background in games, is pulled to the forefront and becomes the primary "character." The player fades from an external and stressful world in the opening of this fresh and genuine game only for PS3, and journeys through beautifully vivid landscapes, changing the his surroundings and exploring nature along the way.

Playing as the wind, the player guides and grows a swarm of pedals by interacting with other flowers and the surrounding environment. The goals and journey in each level vary, but all involve flight, exploration and interaction with the level. Using simple SIXAXIS wireless controls, the player guides the lead petal and accumulates a swarm of flower petals as he moves at his own pace within the environment, causing the on-screen world to change. Flower's gameplay offers different experiences, pacing and rhythm to all players. Along the way, the environment will pose challenges to the players progress. Both pastoral and at times chaotic, Flower is a visual, audio and interactive escape on PS3.

Began the title yesterday after I wound up Journey. Now this is again a different title! But there’s so much of fun. It may not appeal to many because there are no enemies, no level progress and an extremely short gameplay time - approx. one hour! :p

Essentially, we control the wind that blows a flower’s petal through a level (in the first level it is the grasslands) and as the petal comes in contact with other individual flowers or a group of flowers, it blooms them and the petal is joined by other petals from those flowers. Once an entire bunch of flowers from a group is bloomed, it further transforms a dull dead grassland to a plush green one restoring life and color dynamically to the entire area. Ultimately, a dead skeletal tree blossoms and comes to life! And that ends the first level. Hardly took 10 minutes. The sound also varies itself as the petal touches a flower like the sound from the piano/keyboard keys. Controlling the direction/camera is purely by the Sixaxis motion controller whereas the press of any key blows the wind faster forcing the petal to move at a greater pace.

Take a look at the trailers below:

@quixand - grab this if you haven't already. You'll love it.

Forgot to mention. Completed the game last weekend and it was a tad too short clocking at some one hour and another 10 minutes for the credits sequence. Even the credits part is so well done - the devs. have indeed been thoughtful and innovative.

The game has a few trophies (no Platinum sadly! :p) and most of them are easily achievable. @quixand - FYI!
