Hi

I have xperia play just unlocked to indian carriers.I am using BSNL connection but the phone used BSNL 3g instead of 2g.I tried setting it manually from Settings<wireless & networks<mobile networks and it shows BSNL 2g and BSNL 3g.I selected 2g but it automatically selects 3G signal afterwards.I dont want 3g signal as BSNL has very bad coverage of 3g (while its OK with 2g)in my area resulting call drops.

Please help if i can select 2g as default or not??I mean force turning off umts???

Isn't there an option under wireless and networks to "Use only 2G networks"? There usually is.

I believe if you go to your dialer and type *#*#INFO#*#* or #*#*INFO*#*# it will bring up a menu where you are provided the option to select 2g only mode. INFO is the corresponding numbers on your keypad (which I believe is 4636). Sorry for being so vague, but I don't have access to my phone at the moment.
