Forum Feedback Forum Reorganization for a More Modern and Engaging Experience

In the ignored threads section, the Select All checkbox does not work post-update. Previously, checking the box would select every thread on the current page. Currently, it does not do anything. Can this be looked into?

It's an issue with the alt dark and alt light themes. It works if you switch to the new Xenforo default theme.

Will carry out the reorg starting today and complete it by 30th Nov. It will be a lot of stuff moving around with some empty forums to start with.

Might need some help to identify some keywords to search and move threads to their new and correct place. Any help in starting new discussions related to the topic is greatly appreciated.

How do we use solutions? How does a member even mark a post as a solution?
Seems like no one is marking any helpful post as a solution. So even helpful posts by most members go unnoticed. Everyone here has just 1 point in this list.
No old members except 1-2 people. Reality is lot different with so many people helping others out every day/month/year. I think it can be safely removed if no one is bothered to use it.

Making a few changes to make the forum more valuable and accessible for everyone, especially new users and visitors who find us through search engines or referral links.
  • Compiling and Condensing Discussions: Taking the best insights, recommendations, and advice from various threads and creating new, well-structured threads that present the information in an easy-to-read format. This we will do for topics for which we get search engine visitors but they leave immediately after getting overwhelmed.
  • Standardizing Key Guides: For recurring queries (e.g., buying guides), we’ll have dedicated, updated threads that serve as go-to resources for common questions.

Why is it important:
  • Uncovering Hidden Gems: Our forum is a treasure trove of knowledge, but often the best insights are buried deep within threads, sometimes on page 2 or beyond. Casual visitors or those with limited time might miss out on these valuable nuggets.
  • Streamlined Buying Guides: We generate incredible discussions on topics like “Best Android Phone under 30K,” but the information is scattered and not presented as a concise guide. This makes it challenging for member to get clear, actionable advice quickly.
  • Better Visibility: By presenting our knowledge in a more SEO-friendly format, we can attract more traffic and ensure our discussions reach a wider audience.
  • Improved User Experience: Visitors will find our forum more accessible and engaging, encouraging them to become long-term members.
Let me know if anyone has any other ideas or suggestions.

Look at what can be done with discussions that we have here. Its mind blowing. https://techenclave.com/threads/bos...sony-wh-1000xm4-a-comparative-insight.223764/

All of a sudden soo many sub-categories on forum home page.
Many are empty.. going to be difficult to find the right category.
Same feedback here, I now feel like the forum has too many sections when its activity is slowing down. Maybe having sub-forums instead would help, or just have a generalised section and split it if it generated too many threads or such.
Like this:

could just be two sections imo:
  • Emerging Technologies
  • Security and Privacy
And if the latter is related only in context to the former, it could've been a sub-forum I guess?

Similarly,

This could again be two sections
  • Websites, Apps and Tools
  • CS and Development
It's gotten too fragmented and hard to find topics I like, especially at a time when interests in forums is still on a downwards slope...

But again, that's just my POV as someone who is relatively new here and kind of in my own niche, with time only on weekend to scour through and catch up on what happened in my small niches during the week lol

I get why we're trying to be specific, I really do, but it's clear to me that it's not going to work out for me. And that's fine. That's how Internet works. I'm not asking you to change it, though.
However, I do have two suggestions:

  1. A shout box kind of thing where all the latest posts are thrown in a scrollable fashion, maybe? They used to exist before, but I can't remember one that didn't look ugly lol
  2. A way to select the topics I like/channels I want in my "Forum" page to be visible. As an example, I couldn't care any less about Web3 and Blockchain as of now. They're interesting and all, but I don't want to spend time discussing them. So, it would be really nice if I could hide that section and proceed to check for things I want to see. Of course, this has two more considerations:
    1. It must be changeable by the user at any time
    2. There should be a "View all" option to view the whole forum as intended
That's all from my side. Also, this is amazing work yall are doing! Keep it up! <3
Don't let a depressed person drag you down lol

Thanks for the detailed feedback! Will look into it. There are some sections we want to grow. Need to start more discussions in those to get member interest piqued. Some of them we will look at merging and reducing.

Regarding your two suggestions.
You can ignore forums - https://techenclave.com/ignored/forums
Then the threads from those ignored forums won't be listed here - https://techenclave.com/whats-new/posts/
But all threads will still show up here - https://techenclave.com/whats-new/

With the increase in the number of sections or groups would it be possible to have a feature for showing "Favourite" section (set by the user) without having to "Ignore" sections altogether?
