^^i think they will run at 8x if you use all 4

but since its pciE 2.0, at 8X it will have same bandwidth as pciE1.1 16X slots :)
 
errm.. :ashamed: afaik the nehalems have the northbridge integrated.. i still see a northbridge on the x58 :S .. correct me if i am wrong

No,'north bridge' is not fully integrated in case of bloomfield (just the memory controller),but on lynnfield (and havandale) have almost all of the 'northbridge' goes inside uP (incl pci-e),it directly connects to a PCH (platform controller hub) which is essentially a 'southbridge' via DMI.
Intel likes to call the 'northbridge' in x58 as IOH,which is more or less its function as I/O hub which has pci-e + dmi to southbridge (ich 10).
