I play Burnout Paradise at 1440 x 900.. on my MSI hd 4850 @640 (stock)

Now... normally the Game runs at constant 60 FPS ..with the FPS dropping to 50 sometimes in the city.....

But when i run Road Rage .. ( within the city )

The smoothness goes... and During crashes .. with lots of particles smoke and stuff ... FPS drops to 30s or even 20s .. with minimum recorded FPS of 19 ...

FRAPS benchmark i got min : 19 avg : 58 max : 60

How do i Avoid this

I have 2 gb RAM .. is that not enough??:(

i also got 0 FPS once :|

Also in CS source i get 30 -150 fps .. min : 25 ...

at all settingss.. no matter the resolution the FPS doesnt change (for source)

in CS:S stress test i get score of 287 FPS with max playable settings 8xaa 16xaf

Make sure you are not running any process in background and did you tried to turn off AO in Burnout Paradise

yes SSAO is OFF ..

Out of curiosity, 9.12 drivers? Did you install the hotfix which is released for it?

nope dint install the hotfix.. i guess its only for some issues??

this slowdown problem during ROad rage am having for .... the drivers ..8.12 , 9.6 , 9.8 and now 9.12 all tested .. same slowdowns

how does not running processes in back ground help reducing FPS slowdowsn ?? RAM ??

Do you play online or play with bots ? Cause 2 Gb isn't enough if you're playing with bots in CS Source. The stress test hardly even tests the 4850 I get max FPS all the rime in the stress test. 99- 100 FPS (I have capped the Max FPS to 100).

Use 'Game Booster' software. Very useful.

That is completely false. 2GB is more than enough to play CSS with as many bots as you want provided you have a fast enough CPU.

Well it would have been more helpful if you made the efforts to mention the system configuration :ohyeah:. Frankly I am curios why its happening on cs:s out of 2 games >_>"

my system config .. is

AMD phenom II x2 550 BE 3.1 ghz

HD 4850 MSI

2gb kingston ram

500 gb seagate 7200 rpm

WIN XP sp3

Huntkey psu 550 w ( i know its sub standard but not cause for low fps ) :D

:)

it also should not happen in burnout paradise.. since everybody says its the smoothest game around !

even if i play with 4-5 bots agst me , it gives low FPS ... irrespective of the resolution, settings or AA ..:)

i also get massive FPS drops in crysis demo and far cry 2... generally LOW FPS in these both games .crysis - 17-25 fps while fighting far cry 2 24 fps @ ultra high .

maybe your comp has been on for too long before playing. even if it hasn't try this -

if you have a dual core processor or a processor with multiple cores, alt+tab out of the game and open task manager. search for the exe of the game you're playing and right click > set affinity and deselect one of your cores, i.e cpu 1 for example. press ok. right click > set affinity and select cpu 1 again and press ok. alt + tab back into the game and try.

i jus installed tom clancys hawx and it gives 100 fps at all settings maxed with 8xAA@ 1440 x 900 .. :):) directx 9 mode....
