On 1st June, 2011, I had submitted my documents and a cheque of Rs.3530 (A/C Payee) to Abhishek (Reliance sales executive) for getting a new Wimax connection.

On the 4th of June, a guy from the technical department came and checked the feasibilty of the connection and reported that a new connection would not be possible as the tower is already full. After this I spoke to Abhishek and asked him about the cheque. He said that the cheque would be discarded.

When I checked my account balance today I found that Rs.3530 has been debited from my account (transcation details showed that the cheque was enchased) on the 11th.

I called Abhishek immediately, he said that he would get back to me latter.
Then contacted their nodal office and spoke to them. They also promised a callback but havent received anything till now. After this I marked an email to both the nodal office and the appellate authority and I hope that they would reply.

Guys please let me know how to go ahead so that I can teach these fraudsters a good lesson and also recover my money.

But only if they could provide a Connection will they ask for a cheque.
From what you have mentioned they refused the connection so how come they ask for money.?

You should get it back.. no problem. The only thing is you need to be patient and need to keep reminding them once or twice.

This is not a great customer service, but that's how it is in our country. Not everything is as fast as your SGS II :ohyeah:

I had same issue of connection & get the check back nearly after 1 month, but in my case, the person who collect cheque from me is my best friend.

But i am confused with one thing, the reliance people told that wimax connection won't be available on 4th, then why did they en-cashed the cheque on 11th :S

Reliance is a big company with big and numerous departments. The executives are part of the sales department. When a cheque reaches them, it would go to their billing department. The connection is handled by their provisioning department. The faults if any are handled by the faults department. Since it is a big (and Indian) company, there is very little co-ordination between departments. Would request the OP to be patient. Nodal officer itself is a pretty high point of escalation and if he is involved, the matter should be looked into soon.

Just got a call from them. They said that they are processing the refund and I would get the refund check by end of this month.

Don't worry about it. I work at RCOM and its a big uncoordinated slow moving company. :ashamed:

But they are mostly honest in that they would at the very least refund money if no service is provided.

^ i have seen many users who get their application rejected because of no free node or no line available in that area.
So does this mean they do not intend to expand their business :S

The thing is, it should be profitable for them to expand in THAT area. Installing infrastructure costs money. If you have ever heard of the term "feasibility study" by any ISP, it means that they will try and figure out what is the demand for their services, and if they can expect to recover that money and make a profit by expanding in an area. For e.g. if there is a particular area where majority of the people are already using MTNL DSL or some local cable operator (5net, hathway, etc.), it is very unlikely that they will shift over to Reliance (which charges more than the incumbents). Some residential building authorities also charge Reliance for putting up their network equipment (like a switch) for providing services. This also figures into their decision of expanding in an area.

Yes i understand that . At a place where i was living there reliance people were supposed to install their equipment on the building terrace.
For that there were people who used to visit us and request us to get their landline and dsl connection.
At that time they were selling their 256kbps connection UL with free calls for 500 bucks.
That speed i was not interested so had refused it.
But they would come along periodically and offer some other better plans.
One such guy even offered more speed than printed as a favour to get them get their landline. Smelling something fishy i refused.

I am not 100% certain so I could be completely off here, but I remember at some meeting that I attended (I was half asleep and came only so I could drink free Pepsi) that they discussed something that fixed bandwidth is allocated to different cities and from what I heard is that Pune is so saturated that adding more subscribers will reduce the speed avaialble to everyone else.

A few cell cites in Pune are not used much so staff are allowed to sell new connections to people residing in those areas only. The rest of Pune is chocked and adding new bandwidth is an expensive and time consuming activity.

Well should'nt there be a case of supply and demand.
(Just curious)
i mean you have a business opportunity you should take it right. :S

I am sure they are trying to increase bandwidth but as I said earlier, Reliance is a big and SLOW company. ;)

To do anything takes time. And when a few crores are involved there are a LOT of clearances and sign offs to be taken.
