i've a winxp mc edition whenever i start my pc , during my login into xp i got a messaging saying that widows has not been activated and has to be activated but when i used the activate windows button which is in startmenu it says it is already been activated so what might be the problem

Is the copy genuine ? and did you update recently ?, might help others here, if its a false positive, we'll stay away from win update till its resolved.
 
i keep my automatic updates off and i use autopatcher but when i click the windows activation button given on the start menu it stays my product is already been activated
 
Try system restore... if you had kept it enabled of course...
Is the Windows copy genuine??? If yes then ask the customer support (because you are paying for that).

Was the Autopatcher with latest updates? Did u install the WGA application in Autopatcher?
Try downloading Internet Explorer 7 or WMP 11 and check if ur system is getting recognized as geniune...
