free download firmware to PC

i have e63 rm 437 with 400.something
latest is 500.something
dont want to risk FOTA update
don't have good net connection
any way i can first download the firmware to PC FREE-OF-COST??
And then later update the phone over USB
PS: don't want to pay like 300 to nokia care as its out of warranty
any link if this is already answered??

I DONT BELIEVE this....
went to nokia.co.in
under software for phone device list both e63 and e71 seem to be missing
though ....

Get Nokia Software Updater from Nokia website.

Then connect your phone and the SW Updater will begin downloading the right FW for your phone.

Only when the FW is completely downloaded to your PC does the Flash process begins. So, u needn't worry about some risk that the net connection might die on you.

Ur phone has to be connected to the PC even before the FW downloads only coz the SW Updater first needs to recognize your phone so as to ascertain the FW to download. :yahoo:

Did the update late last night
Backed up everything except memory card contents
Finished after 4 AM
If i restore the backup, will the previously installed programs come back??
Other than the missing third-party programs everything seems to be working fine.

I am not sure about the third party apps but I am guessing that they won't work.

In any case, I prefer to reinstall the apps after a FW upgrade just for making sure that my phone is 'completely new' on the inside. Lol
