eBay India: New Xtreamer HDD Media Player Full HD1080P WiFi MP3 MP4 (item 110433668688 end time 10-Nov-2009 13:00:37 IST)
with 10% discount,it comes to about rs 8500

except the 1 yr warranty, i see both the offer as same(with all stuff including 1 USB wifi antenna)but the ebay deal is direct 2000 Rs off here, which is much

has anybody got the xtreamer from ebay.in from that particular dealer?

So, i dont know where to buy from, can u guys help here!

* or should i dump my plan for xtreamer & go for the ACRyan Playon HD(got components out)..but dont know how to source it in India?..so advice on this too!!!!

^^ I suggest you buy from our in house TE dealer as you are sure to get a warranty. As you are saying ebay one wont offer warranty which IMO is something that you should not opt for.

For AC Ryan, you can source from KMD or may be you can contact sunnyboi as it is available in Singapore also. But yes forget about warranty.

I have a Eaget M880 media player which can be called as chinese clone of AC Ryan with it being 100% same as that in terms of hardware.

The unit that i had got had problems with LAN port and hence i have sent it back to company for RMA.

But this is not just a look alike clone but the actual components (chipset and all) are also same as AC Ryan. I do not have a HDTV but connecting it to my normal TV played few 1080p videos and it worked flawlessly.

It still does not have the support for youtube / picasa and likes. Only shoutcast radio works which i tried and works fine.

So overall AC Ryan will also work same.

In fact this eaget company, what it does is that when AC Ryan releases a firmware for its player, they take it, rename it and provide to its customers :P

Xtreamer India has a listing in eBay as well for 1K more IIRC. Better pay 1K more for warranty :P

Purchase it from xtreamer india. He is present on TE dealers section. He also has a ebay listing. His price is presently 10650/- including wifi antenna and shipping. Ebay listing price would be little higher.

Also if you want to make the purchase using Credit card then the ebay listing will be ok for you as directly they are not accepting credit card IIRC.

Xtreamer.in doesNOT list nowdays on ebay.in...this is what i got in reply "We are not on eBay as of now because of their policies. In fact we do not need to, till the next batch comes and the few units left in this batch are expected to sell in next few days.".Actually raksrules, just like you,i for Now dont have a HDTV,just a 29"SDTV with Componenet in.Ideally,i shouldNOT get the Xtreamer,as it doesNOT have componenet out, just composite out, which i think will be crappy...so was thinking about AC Ryan,as it has a component out, better build(with 3.5 HDD internal facility) & also of better design(i prefer),..but main hindirance is about availability, though it's supposed to b officially available with "AqTronics Technologies" at Bangalore India,as the AcRyan website says PlayOn!HD | Full HD Network Mediaplayer by A.C.Ryan have got NO clue if its Really available with them, their website doesNOT show anyhing like that at least. Though i would be soon upgrading to a FULL HD40-50" HDTV,for now,i was thinking mainly for going in for a Mpc like Xtreamer,as a pre-emptive move for the price it's now offered(till 7th Nov09) alongwith the Free USB Antenna & also since the improved Fw 2.0 got officially released recently & thus i dont want to left out as such.i however find the price of Xtreamer of 10,650 @ over rs.2000 a bit over the top, would have liked it much at which its being ofered@ ebay.in(the link provided).Though i am equally open to such chinese clones as eaget M880 as one Rakrules got (i dont care much for LAN,Internet radio, websites etc)if it can deliver SD & HD at top notch just their Big players like ACRyan,I am in.To be Honest, i am at the moment a Bit sort of budget,& dont want to spend high on a mpc. Though 1 year warranty do mean much, but for me,price also do matter, particularly if its a Big 2K difference & thus i don't know what to Go in for Honestly!!!

Thus,if in view of my particular situation, u can very specifically advise, what i should opt for, i would be very grateful..i am really open to all honest advices!!!..remember, the xtreamer.in says its deadline is 7th Nov09 for the aforesaid price with its free USB antenna! So dole out ur advices ASAP!!!

The player i have got does very good HD at least from what i saw. I dont have a HDTV so cannot see those 720p and 1080p in full glory but at least on CRT it works fine as far as smoothness of video is considered. I think audio / songs will be secondary option for any media player owner as basic crux of buying this stuff is video playing capability.

But one thing, for some reason my player says Invalid File to all WMV files :S I think it will be resolved in future firmware releases. Till then WMV HD is something that i cannot use, probably.

Also me in the same boat as you, still don't have a HDTV and will be buying something in range of 46" or more in some time.

Am in a similar boat, I setup another LCD in the living room and dont want to go thru the rigors of building another HTPC this time....

So currently, I have an old mac mini (that handles SD content happily) hooked to it, but for 720/1080p, i need to unplug cables and attach my lappy....

So it's a bit of a pain and I'd rather get a dedicated HD player to handle this, but since there is no rush , I'll get 1 only if I am sure it's a nice VFM deal :)

possible to load ac ryan firmware on this? looks possible to me.. :D plus this is based on busy box....hmm more hackable...hehe

^^ In that case what are the possibilities. What is busy box ??
I read on the AC Ryan forum that someone was trying to flash his AC Ryan with the M880s firmware (opposite to what you have suggested). I do not have the heart to try using AC Ryan fw but once i get the copy of my original firmware (yet to be available on eaget's website), i may give it a shot.

EAGET-Òä½Ã¿Æ¼¼ |Çý¶¯ÃÂÔØ

I see 2 ver here, chinese and international, the international version is lagging behind the chinese ver, if possible do post the firmware date of ur updated box.

Should be possible to load with ac ryan firmware, just need to get the rom size in eaget m880. The firmware of acryan is whopping 36mb compared to 19mb of eaget.

google for busy box :P the possibilities are endless....one is running torrent client like transmission

^^ The latest firmware listed on their chinese website is 1831 while mine is some 1972 version. I am sure this is latest as in the old player before RMA i had loaded the 1831 which did not have support for external USB DVD ROM but this firmware has.

It also lists something called overseas version firmware, not sure what it is. will need to check it out.

Btw the firmware size you are talking is zipped / rared or extracted size. Asking because after extracting the eaget firmware is 86 MB in size :O

The original question still remains.

Where in India do get any of these boxes from!

why do you want it though? why not a PS3 instead?

used ps3s sell for as low as 10k these days, id suggest you pick one up

^^ But they would only play Blu Ray discs which means one has to buy them and supposedly not too popular because of economics. Does it play HD Rips MKVs and all ?

I am not sure so asking.

i guess the WDTV Live could be imported for 7.2k whereas the Xtreamer could cost upto 9k with local warranty(maybe less with ebay coupons), so it's your personal choice.

WDTV Live has been released recently and the firmware is said to be buggy, the Xtreamer too had a few issues but most of them have been addressed with firmware 2, overall the response from the xtreamer support team seems to be better. You couldn't go wrong with either.

Ok so here i have some interesting info about my media player eaget M880 which is a chinese clone of AC Ryan.

The interesting things are

1. It cannot play WMV files for some odd reason. Selecting a WMV file to play gives 'Invalid File' error.

2. In my firmware (supposedly the latest), i cannot access the network neigbour (it is a webpage, an interface to player on PC). Here i can add torrents etc to the player. It does not come instead a HTML+CGI calculation page comes :S

3. Shoutcast is having problems

Now the main thing, all these problems, yes exactly same, exist on the latest firmware of AC Ryan too. :O I checked AC Ryan's forum and they have all these problems listed by users.

This simply means that this chinese company is simply copying AC Ryan's FW and pasting to eaget users. So now i need to check if i can actually port AC Ryan;s firmware on my player or not. Just want to ensure i do not end with a bricked player.

I bought from their site on 29th of last month and still its showing as "Ready for shipping" what does it means and usually how much time they take to deliver it to India?
