This is fantastic... hopefully HTC has delayed the launch of the Desire in India only for this reason.
 
^ what I mean is that the Desire was delayed from end of may, to end of july and now to second week august, and I hope that this last delay was only because they are going to sell the Desire here with Froyo, and not that come mid-august they say October.
 
Smart ones will hold off until someone roots it and uploads the one with stripped off hboot and pre rooteded version which shouldnt be too long.

This update also updates the hboot of the phone. This patches current loophole that allowed root access. It will wipe your existing Recovery as well.

So you update with untouched OTA = You loose root, you loose ability to root again with current set of tools like unrevoked.

And as I type this, someone just did this.

If you want to install the official Froyo use this : [ROM] Rooted HTC Official 2.2 FroYo Update "DoS, DoS, DoS :P" - xda-developers

The above rom is without new hboot.

Use Google, read up on it - it's quite a major update.

How is it Possible ? Ain't the phone's camera something like dealt with HARDWARE ? in-regard to a UPDATE ?

I don't think I'll ever root my Legend so I should be okay with updating the moment it shows up on OTA right?

I don't need to. I'm happy with unrooted Android as it seems more than sufficient for my requirements. I don't see how rooting would help me.
