Reason for Sale : I bought the modem, and found that it won't do wireless. But neither the customer service executives over the phone or the people at the RMA center explored the possibility that it could be a DOA case which would have meant a simple replacement at the retailer's (something I was not aware of at that time). The first executive asked me to update the firmware but didn't send me the firmware file; the dlink.co.in site doesn't have a easily discoverable link to this resource; the file IS available on the tsd.dlink site (mentioned by another executive), but the file there is rejected by the modem as incompatible with the hardware.
The brand new modem was given for repairs, which took a week; and eventhough the quality control manager promised a replacement, a used repaired unit was given.
So, basically, I have had it with Dlink and do not want to be associated with the company. It is just too frustrating and I wouldn't have the patience to do this routine again, if the product fails in the future.
I sure do not want to hand this modem over to the buyer without getting this off my conscience, since somehow it seems unethical to ask someone to associate with a company that one knows is bad. Frankly, I would urge you to stay away from it, but as they say one mans ****** is another man's *********.
Ofcourse, I got a TP Link modem in the meantime, and that is working as expected.
In the present condition, the modem is fully functional. It comes with the box and all contents, and invoice.
