vData DDR1 512 mb 400Mhz 2.5-3-3-8 timing, overclocks to 470Mhz without trouble. The chips on this say vData. Bought October last year. Its got lifetime warranty but I lost the bill, so I guess that may not work. This stick supports 333 and 400 speeds. - SOLD

Speed DDR1 512 mb 400Mhz 3-3-3-8 timing, overclocks to 470Mhz without trouble. It has hynix chips. Bought May last year. This stick supports 266, 333 and 400 speeds. - SOLD

Will give 7days testing guarantee on both.:hap2:

Bangalore buyers preferred.

Oh yes before you ask they won't work in dual channel mode together.

SOLD

err any reason why they both dont work in dual channel mode together though they have same timings ?..

or else will any of the two sticks work in dual channel mode with my existing

Dynet 512 MB DDR 400 RAM ? it's timings are 3-4-4-7.

coz of different chips. for two modules to work in dual channel they need to match exactly in terms of speed, capacity and chipset used.

WOOPS!!

Thanks for catching that the speed is at 3-3-3-8 timings. And they are different chips aboard that so they won't work. my suggestion would be to get someone else's 3-3-3-8 timing with hynix chip and pair with the speed. That combination always works. I have tried that with 3 sticks with hynix chips. Also I am giving the 1 week guarantee, so if it does not work the way you want it to, send it back. ;)

sant both pms. i was at the parents with no internet :O for a week so was late in replying.

also a drastic price drop. i want to get rid of these.:P

Can u plz tell me whether 3 sticks of 512 MB running in single channel mode would be faster or 2 sticks of 512MB running in Dual channel mode?

I checked on my PC. The memory bandwidth of 2x512 gives a bandwidth of 5550 but when i run with 2x512+1x256 it gives a bandwidth of just 2246.

If I add a 512MB, would my PC become faster due to increased memory or slower due to less bandwidth?

I am from bangalore. I am interested in the one with the better timings but want to test those before taking. Will that be OK with you?

PM me if interested.

Bye.

sold vdata to mudsir, now just speed remaining

@clown_abhi the increase in performance due to dual channel is about 5-10%

some applications would like more memory bandwidth, but overall more ram is better

oh but there is another con, if you run 3 sticks, the latency will rise, possible forcing you to run in 2T instead of 1T, which would give a massive hit, almost as much as 40%. ask around if this is true, and if it is then do not put 3 sticks.
