I'm selling this notebook on behalf of a friend... please PM or post your questions here. If you're not interested, don't bother posting :) Will try to get pics of the actual notebook soon...

Dell Inspiron E1705 (Same as the Inspiron 9400, but E1705 comes with Media Center Edition)

Sale Price: Rs.80000.

Purchased: End of May '06 from Dell USA

Started using the notebook only in July, as the person who brought it from the US arrived in July. Here's a good review of this notebook.

Condition: Not a scratch on it, looks as good as new. It's a beautiful piece, you have to see the display to believe whats its capable of.

Reason for sale: Dont need such a high end notebook for office work, i.e. with 17" UltraSharp widescreen and 7800GO etc.

Package includes:

Windows XP Media Center installation CD. (which Dell charged for seperately)

Charger

Recovery CD

Manual from Dell

One salient feature of this notebook is Media Direct.

The laptop did not come with a bag so had to purchase that seperately, and it's *not* included in the sale. It cost me 3.1k seperately so if you need the bag, let me know and we can work out a deal.
Btw, same notebook with Core 2 Duo instead of Core Duo and a 7900GS instead of 7800GO sells for approximately 97k on Dell India, after 8k discount they are offering.

1st preference to buyers in Bombay. Can work something out with buyers from other cities.

Here's the detailed config:

I am interested but the price is not fesable... if I book a 2ghz (7200) with 2gb ram + dvd writer from the US site its much cheaper... even without adding a coupon... & even if ordered from the indian site it cost 80ish for 2ghz... might reconsider the price, let me know

New price : Rs.75,000 (including the bag) , Rs.72,000 withouth the bag.

Baron, you can't compare prices in the US and India. There is still a significant 15k-20k difference in similiar config pieces. I tried configuring the Inspiron 9400 on the Indian site and as mentioned, with only the proccessor and gfx card changing, the Indian site is charging close to 96k-97k (thats after a discount). Even if the sales person offers another 7k discount, it'll come down to 90k. So i'm sure an asking price of 72000 is justified.

Here are some snaps of the Laptop.

. . . . . . . . . .

As you can see, its as good as new, scratchless, spotless.

Contact me , binoy.sh@gmail.com if anyones interested.

Thats exactly why I insist on the 75k price but I dont see too many people interested. :( , I guess people really have to see the screen to see what exactly they are paying the little extra for. Thanks for bumping.

@ Viking : Really sorry man, not interested in exchanging it. The price as "pixel" mentioned is pretty reasonable if you're interested. :D

Gr1m, you rpicing indeed is good...

however noone seems interested coz someone who is willing and has the moolah to spend 75K on a notebook would perhaps go the extra mile and pay a lil extra to get a new one with a local warranty and the free comlete care (accident insurance) that dell india gives...

my sincere advice is to give ebay a shot.I sold my thinkpad on ebay for a decent price...in any case, free bump for a great deal :)

Dell offers 1 year warranty I think, there is an extra charge of 3000 to take it to 3 years ?

Afaik, nothing really goes wrong within the first year anyways, and i'm sure whatever minor issues are there can be sorted out by TE members themselves.

If its a hardware issue, it usually comes with the initial shipmet itself, doubt anything goes wrong later on (atleast not in the first year, unless you're really unlucky :P ) so the piece can be returned there itself.

I'll try on ebay as well, thanks for the advice.. I just thought TE members will be more interested in this high end cfg.

As for the "little extra" ... im sure no one's willing to pay an extra 10k just for 1 year support but then too there are a lot of exceptions that will willingly spend that "little extra".
Another thing I wanted to know was, why doesn't DELL offer international warranty/support really doesnt make any sense to me. Its not like there are FAKE DELL's available anywhere that it'll be an issue for them. What about students or businessmen that buy laptops from abroad, its just plain stupid that they dont consider their own orignal products for support internationally, god knows what their policies are on these things. They should just insist on the purchase invoice , and the support code thats printed on the laptop and link it to the purchasers name to make life easier for everyone.

[OT] A relative of mine bought an Inspiron 6400 from the states a few months back. Just recently there was a power surge at his place and his AC Adaptor got fried. He rang up the local Dell Customer care hotline and within no time they sent him a replacement! I have no idea how that happened - whether they really do offer support out here in India or they were stupid enough to send a replacement :ohyeah:. I dint get into details though, as I did not have much time to speak to the relative , so no idea what info Dell support asked for before sending out the replacement. [/OT]

^^They have international warranty... I called them up and i was told so. The warranty works not just on laptops but dell displays as well hehe :)
