Legal or not, it's surely unethical to sell something that you received for free. The company (Canonical) sent you so many (bearing all costs) in the hope that you will share it freely. There are other packaged distribution CDs I have seen in book-shops that are for sale, to cover for distribution and media costs, probably making small profits in the process.

But selling the official Ubuntu shippit CDs? Shame Shame! The seller(?) better give it free+shipping!
If someone wants them for free, pm me and I'll gift them to you (pick up or you bear shipping costs).

when i read this i was like wtf , someone can stoop so low, selling a linux distro and that too Ubuntu  ..
i had got these four years back and got some 20+cds sent to me free of cost from UK ..
seriously dude this is height .. wait till darky reads this :ohyeah: :ohyeah: ..

These CD are sent for Free and cannot be sold unless and until you have ordered them from Canonical shop :P [mod]Please remove them, they are not meant for sale ! [/mod]

@ DS, I dont see anything wrong in selling it , but then, who would be dumb enough to buy it is the question :P

Ubuntu is legally free ... and trying to sell Ubuntu CDs at any cost greater than 8Rs. is a crime in India. (8 Rs. is the cost of the media).

^^ how did you determine that 8 Rs is the cost of the media , i dont think its illegal but maybe morally wrong

THe price he is selling it at is ridiculous. He also lied that he didn't got CD's for free, heck thr courier cover canonical uses is lying behind in the pic . Just lose this thread and ban him .
