For sale on behalf of a friend, Samsung captivate which has a corrupt IMEI and he does not have a back up for NV or the efs so restoring it must be a hard job.

Asking price- IMEI restored and the phone working the way it should, Price will be updated if he (friend) still wants to sell it. I hope mods don't have a problem with this price will be updated within 24 hours.

Hi,

A fully working is going for 11-12K here,so for the brain dead one 9K is far too expensive !! If you are revising the price Am interested !! Hope he has all the accessories and others that came with the phone intact !!

did u try a factory restore or use the imei write tool at com port? u need to have the orogonal imeoi in the box as changing is illegal.
 
This can be restored Mobiletechvideo can restore it for $30 but he don't want to wait for someone to take this to US and get it repaired and shipping this from India to USA...... will cost you somewhere around 3/4k.

@uziel he did not tried anything he was running some custom rom and he flashed it back to stock and i think this has corrupted the imei, The original box and the phone have same IMEI number but did not tried restoring it.

Is there anyway this can be restored ? What is this com port imei tool ?
 
Its a tool used to provide IMEI number to a phone via software...Similar thing is used for Chinese phones!

Using this tool is not legal as any modification to IMEI number is not allowed.

You will not find any legal support for this tool and is available mostly via torrents and other p2p clients.

Please note: If you are using this tool, then make sure you are restoring the original IMEI number and not modifying it!!

@Uziel : if you meant something else, please share with just us....
 
But will this work for it, i just checked with a repair guy he has some similar tool, Its a samsung tool it has a imei repair option. I don't remember but it said something like c2x.
 
Check if there is a folder called backup on the sdcard (Internal or External)

Also if you send it over to Mobiletechvideos in the US, the whole process is going to cost you around 3-3.5k. Which includes the service charges, and shipping to and from the US. Aramex charges around 1.5k to ship a phone to the US.
 
Checked it personally there is no backup of NV or the efs on the phone, Yeah and i know sending this Back to US and getting it repaired will cost approx 4k.

Aramex charges for shipping to USA are 944/- plus tax.

Edit: I think now taking the backup of the efs and restoring it will not solve the problem coz the NV_DATA.BIN is already corrupted.

Guys just got a NV_data from the seller who has sold this phone to us, he says he has backups for all the phones he sas sold and is very confident that this will restore the imei.

I will update this thread once i am done with the IMEI restore.
