damn fuel price hikes always increase the cost of everything ... prices of vegetables increase , prices of public transport increase and prices of many essential goods also increase as everyone is affected by the increase in transport prices. hike in diesel prices will mean hike in electricity production costs for farmers and people who use diesel generators .. this again makes stuff like rice n vegetables expensive.

damn the government !!!
 
if i can afford a car , i can afford the fuel, it starts to pinch when the fuel cast per month is almost twice the EMI of the car,on top of that in hill wid all 1st gear driving, the 800 barely gives 12kmpl.
 
If the government does not hike the price, Oil Companies would die.
If the government reduces cess on fuel, treasury of the government would die.
If the prices are raised, consumer would die.

Now, there it is. Government seems to know who better die, simple ain't it? ;)
 
Its 54.78 here. one less panipuri for every litre, not a big deal :ohyeah: :bleh:
 
Yea karnataka always has the highest prices and out of that bangalore has the second highest in karnataka i think :@ The worst part of all this is knowing that the base price of petrol without any taxes is below Rs 30
 
U cannot Expect The Government To Do Away With Taxes On Oil,How Do U expect The Budget To Have Any Cash ,The Point Is Very Simple People Should Start Using public Transport more then their cars.Most Of The Metros Have A minium of 2 cars per household
 
Public Transport, well that might spark off a major debate again. How many cities boast of good public transport, convinient public transport.

There has been a lot of talk about the Metro Project but unless the service starts, I have lost faith in the goverment to believe.

If there was good public transport in Bangalore, I would never ever think of using a vehicle, it would save many from the horrible pollution.

^^How Do U Think The Pollution Will Reduce If Eeryone takes Out Their Cars everytime they need to go somewhere..

I Sincerly Feel that The answer To The Price Crisis Is To Make Use Of The public Transport More Often:D

Uhhhh...which Metros are these? I have lived in Bombay all my life, and know a fair number of people, and I do not recall too many people having more than a single car (bikes not considered).

Also, ever try the public transport system in Bombay? Supposed to be the best in India, but 4 hrs travelling a day standing in jam packed conditions will drive you nuts.
 
all that rush n jam is due to economical growth with infrastructure, and the bloody population, the systems were nt designed fr this kind of load i think

its worse in smaller towns which r on their road to get bigger, they don hv ne public transport, and need a system fast.

fr eg, mall rd of darj. was meant fr 50k population inheight of tourist season, which reaches 1 million in peak season
 
I read in the paper that a litre of petrol costs only 18Rs in Pakistan. Can someone explain why?

This number is quickly increasing here in bangalore.

Did you know the number of vehicles in Bangalore = entire state of Kerala :S
 
he he ... this is why i like my bicycle :D ..if i have to go a long way i use public transport which isnt bad in coimbatore :)
 
we all should start using electric bicycles...

actually the fuel hikes gives a great marketing ploy someone say hero cycles... ride cycles, stay healthy, reduce pollution and reduce expenses!!! what more you want? :rofl:

when they say that the metro would start in 2011 .. we can safetly assume that it would actually start contruction in 2011 :bleh:

car pooling is def being tried out by some compaines here in mumbai.. it should be accepted by majority of the car owners. once they realise they it would be they would who would profit from this! esp on fuel expenses!

i doubt the gov can reduce taxes on petrol... and as someone said rightly.. how the hell would they earn cash then?

hmm comparing petrol prices with other countries in the literal sense doesnt make sense.. since you also have to take into account the taxes/policies/gnp etc etc ...

this is why i had said in my previous post that the gov needs to implement policies and encourage more use of renewable sources of energy! ... the development process is only going to put more and more burden on our oil resources and it would much better if they start putting aside money for developing environmentally friendly technology which is less dependant on oil...

and for this they would have to have private participation too.. esp from vehicles manufacturers! long shot maybe.. but its the need of the hour...
 
who said abolish taxes? why cant they reduce the taxes? Paying more than 100% tax on something is just too much. And if there was a better public transport system in bangalore i wouldnt mind using it. For example the metro rail in Kolkata. Its so amazingly convenient and cheap. If we had something of that sort i wouldnt be complaining.
 
Well One Way Or The Other The Commom man Is The one Who Pays,If They Reduce oil Taxes ,They Might Increase Some Other Taxes like Income tax,Or Central Sale Tax Or VAT,Taxes Are A Main Source Of Indian GovernMents Budget Unlike U.S Which gets Its CAsh Inflow From Weapon Sales.India Does Not Have That Luxary
