Just finished speaking with them. The customer care lady was all suspicious when I told her my dad's details instead of mine (I thought I had registered the connection on my dad's name. Was a long time back. :P). Then finally when the mobile no. was confirmed, she sounded better.

My plan should upgrade within 2 days. Let's see. I hope I get 1Mbps. There is no FUP till now. And I'm pretty sure I must be using more bandwidth than all the people in my building.... combined!! :P

UPDATE :

Getting around 90 kb/s in torrents but 31 kb/s from downloading sites ;(

Browsing is Damn slow !! Feels as if ur using 128 kb/s connection !

Do u guys know How to use Open DNS with this connection ? What all settings do i need to use ?

Weird results :S

Apparently, I'm getting more download speed from U.S and U.K as compared to India! Don't trust speedtest so much now.

alright so this is the reason i stick with reliance even though their prices are higher than other isps. i called them up this afternoon at around noon telling them about my problem... they took a complaint, someone called me at 2pm to try and fix it and when that didn't work, a guy showed up at my door at around 4 to see what was wrong. they tested the connections between various points on the network and eventually determined that it was a problem from bombay and they fixed it right up.

if i were on a bsnl connection, i'd be bumping the thread 3 weeks from now talking about how they might be fixing the problem. with reliance, shit just gets done.

download speeds seem ok... preloading bad company 2 from steam at 120KBps, http downloads are about 125KBps, torrents are fluctuating though... between 90 and 120, but it averages 100-110 and i can live with that. not sure what's the issue with the upload speed but who cares.

as to the OP's main question......whether Reliance internet has FUP?

Well i've been using Reliance Wimax for more than a year now on and there is no such thing as FUP on this. But i am paying more than others. 1499/mth for 600kbps.

Thanx a lot for the post bro :)

Maybe i shud try customer care as im stuck wid 30-35 kb/s whn downloading from http sites .. :ashamed:

^ I'm surprised that you haven't called up Customer Care yet. Their CC is extremely responsive, second only compared to Airtel I guess.

Once you make a complaint, you can be sure that it is going to be resolved within 24 hours. I had some really bad times with TATA when I was in college. Extremely unresponsive and always giving me automated replies like "Your request has been put on high priority" etc. :|

Guys .. Im having sum weired issues wid this connection ..!

I'm jus not bein able to login on their site using OpenDNS server addresses., Once i set it it obtain DNS automatically (in TCP/IP settings) thn everythn works fine but poor browsing speed as usual.

Did any of u guys face the same issue ?

i'm not using opendns so i can't confirm it. try using the google dns and see if that makes any difference... i think the ip adreses are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (search and confirm anyway).

i don't think your dns will make any difference to the speed you are getting though. can you post a couple of speedtests here? also, call up their customer care and tell them about your problem... they are prompt about dealing with these things.

I switched to obtain DNS automatically because the reliance portal won't open using Open DNS & honestly the Reliance DNS is much faster

^^ Thats too bad ..!
It takes ages to open web pages whn i set it to obtain DNS automatically :ashamed:

Sites that are used to log-on to ISPs reside on their private networks. OpenDNS won't be able to resolve such addresses.

Set your preferred DNS to an OpenDNS IP and the alternate DNS to a Reliance DNS IP. Now it should fall back to the Reliance DNS when trying to resolve the Reliance site as OpenDNS will automatically fail when trying to do so.

Guys - slightly off-topic question, but if ya'll can help pls lemme know -

Is there any difference in speed and/or service quality between Reliance WiMax and Reliance wired broadband? I ask 'coz one costs Rs.2199 and the other is Rs.1499, and I'm plannin' on gettin a connection within the next few days and would like to know which one to go for. Thx a bunch.

Stay away from WiMax or any other wireless network & stick to wired lines if u want a reliable connection.

I'm also looking to switch from Airtel to Reliance (Can't handle their FUP anymore).

How would i use this on my 360 and the PS3? I heard that u had to log on to their site to connect to the internet......

Currently my Adsl modem is connected to a wifi router which connects to all my peripherals.

you have to login to their site once every 24 hours. as long as you can do that from your pc, the rest of the connection should work just fine with your 360 and other stuff.
