I have asus M3A78-EM ---> 780G chipset mobo &4GB DDR2 transcend mem.

had a plan to buy phenom II 955 BE.....But heard about thuban 6 core cpu (Q1 2010)

AMD's 6 core server Istanbul cpu's is compatible with DDR2
Any info on AMD Thuban X6 AM2+ ,DDR2 compatibility? :huh:

an upgrade to Quad core now will be good. Even though six-core thuban supports AM2+, the slower DDR2 controoler could prove to be a bottleneck so it is better to go DDR3 way for six core processor when it is launched.

^^ my Ram is transcend 2x2GB 800mhz

780G chipset.....

If I choose thuban,then There will be difference in performance due to DDR2 ...but it will be small ...right?

i don't believe that DDR2 wud be a bottleneck to 6-core CPU...the best memory freq @ which latest amd CPUs r performing is 1333+....also there is a very little performance diff b/w 1333 and 1600 MHz bandwidth. So even if 800 mhz ram can be OC' to 900-1066 MHz then also we can hav quite acceptable performance. let c wat happens in the future....but 1 shud not fear of bottleneck with 800 mhz DDR2 RAMs.
