Oh in that case probably the link is not updated as you can see youself it states G31 as x8. Good you clarify.

G31 is x16 1.0, G41 is x16 2.0, only multi GPU setups, 5870/GTX 470 + currently benifit from 2.0

Soundmax ADi 2000B (high end Asus) sounds better than the Realtek ALC 889 (high end Gigabyte), low end Realtek sound like crap.

I h've had my Q9450 @ 3.6 OCCT/IBT stable on G31 (450FSB with Quad). With E5xxx, mobo capabilities hardly matters, Its the chip that cant do the FSB, not the board.

Perfectly make sense, It was my stupidity that I throw a E8xxx series processor on G41.

so you say asus is better in terms of sound quality onboard please clarify.:S

would besuggesting an asus P5 PQ AM (corresponding G41 of gigabyte) to him then.:S

will be getting it tomorrow so need a bit clarity on that.

Edit : bought a Gigabyte G31m -ES2l for 2.2k G41 was priced at 2.6k ASUS was cheaper at 2.25k for a G41 chipset.
