I've always been fascinated by games, started out playing Prince, Wolfenstein 3D in the early 90s, but then work and other things in life took priority and I never ever get involved beyond simple games on the PC. But, now I've got a little more time on my hands and want to take some steps into the world of gaming.
I'm debating on whether to go the PC route or a game console. At this time, the game console seems to be the logical choice, it'll be easier to convince the wife rather than spend a huge amount of money on getting my pc up to the latest specs so that it can play the good games.
I'm thinking of going for the PS2 first, and later on moving to the PS3 or XBOX 360. The PS2 has seen a drop in price recently, it's around 8k at the Sony dealer. Does it make sense to go for the PS2 through the official route or should I look at other options. On ebay, it still lists around 7.5K, so I'm thinking the extra note is well worth for the warranty and peace of mind. Are there any advantages of buying from the grey market?
Also, what are the games that one can start with? I'm not looking at very violent games to start with, more stuff that will appeal to a male/female audience. Any suggestions for games that a kid of 4 years can enjoy?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
