Laptops Gaming laptop for around 40k.

no offence, but u have any idea how bad a card 8400 gs is? :p

None taken at all :p The point being that we've already established that the only thing that'll come in the 40-45k bracket is the 8400gs. Considering that most laptops in that range sold in the Indian market carry a x3100, its not a bad idea at all IMO. .

can anyone please review the Zenith laptop the director Plus edition the configuration just looks killer in the ad....but need sumone to tell abt the batterry life and the service...
but I enquired with the Dealer...the proce comes to arnd 41 K after taxes and octroi in Mumbai.he says the performance is great ..just that Zenith has week leg in marketing....but I need an actual user to vouch for that.
else its a dream config for that price:

1) T5800 Processor
2) 4 GB ddr2 ram
3) Nvidia 8600 512 MB dedicated graphics chip.
4) 320 gigs oh hardrive space

I think go for it, seems to be a nice config for 41k,
just make sure they are providing u with the warranty... :hap2:

It seems gr8 price..

but check everything.. thers nothing mentioned about screen size.. n is the os bundeld ?.. companies many-a-times remove for-granted things from the product and show a reduced price..

You can get Dell Studio 15 basic model for around 46k , it has an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD which fully supports HDCP but gaming seems to be bad

Crysis: 1280x800, low: 4-5 fps -> not playable
Call of Duty 4: 800x600, Standard: 5-15 fps -> not playable
Fifa 2008: 800x600, high: 31 fps -> playable
Unreal Tournament 3: 800x600, 3/5 Details: 15-25 fps (with stuttering) -> not playable (perhaps in lowest detail settings)
Die Siedler - Aufstieg eines Königreichs: 1024x768: 15-20 fps -> playable
F.E.A.R.: min./min.: 88 fps -> fully playable
Doom 3: low: 17 fps -> not playable

I spoke to the dealer for Zenith and he is quite convinced abt the product and they are giving the warranty for year.....its just that i am better assured by a user review....

He says that nothing comes quite close to that configuration with that price....also battery life needs a testimony.

again whenever i look at it with 4 gig ram config and 8600 GS card ...im tempted but the name 'Zenith' is not very fascinating....i dont mind a long as the product is hasslefree.

The problem is what happens after that 1yr warranty..:p

My thoughts,exactly. :) That's why even a lower config,say 3/2GB RAM and HD 3450,from HP/Compaq/Dell will suffice.

I had a look at an older model of Director plus and that was a thing of 'ugly'. I hate it. Seems like it was assembled at home by a bunch of  .

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will be heading over to Noida in a day or two. Will make sure that I get hold of a Dell somehow.

Its a slimmed down version on techtree....i checked the orig config with the dealer...it comes with 5800 proecessor. and 4 gigs of Ram and 320 gig HD.

1 gig of ram is being wasted as 9 out of 10 users will prefer a 32 bit OS

I saw the Model ......it looks very good for zenith but lacks all the 'To Die For' looks that u wud get a in Viao or HP ...the quick access keys are missing. the keyboard is bland with nthing fancy... but I Guess u cant ask for the world for that proce tag of under 40 k.

The audio output was much more than what i expected. I could do much hands on myself as it was with the dealer shop se he woudnt letme fiddle much.

Also one more factor contributing is that there is no OS being shipped.

I plan to get this piece ....will post a full review if I get one.

In the configuration that you previously mentioned, you said that it had a 8600M GS graphics card but in the link I provided, there was a 9600M card. So there is a lot of difference in between the two.
If you are in doubt about what graphics the laptop has, take GPUZ or Everest and ask the dealer if you can install it on the machine.

Also ask the dealer if he can put in another 1GB RAM and ask how much extra will that cost.

By the way, are you checking it at a Zenith showroom? Can you tell me if the Zenith showroom names and addresses are mentioned on their website or not?

You can copy the contents of the mail and PM it to me.

Also plz post the e-mail address that you used to contact them.

If possible, can you e-mail them and ask if the configuration that they sent to Techtree is available or not. If available then what is its price.

I think that maybe the T3200 would bottleneck the 9600M. But if you buy this laptop, plz do post your review especially your take on the battery life of this laptop.

I just pasted the exact content of the email itself......and the config that they sent to Techtree is not available but rather this beefed up config is what is selling like hotcake. Its out of stock almost everywhere in Mumbai....however i was able to get it booked at one of the stores ...so if everything goes well...I should hav this laptop in my lap by tomm evenin. The price after taxes and Octroi is comin upto : 42000. and trust me nothin comes close to this config in other brands in a budget less than 55k -60k.

time permits i will be posting my review and opinion about it. In ny case all are welcome to PM me questions or mail me at akitosforever@gmail.com as I dont access TE in office.

Also the email i think that can be used is :helpdesk@zenith-india.com
