@mx518 users, have you ever tried newer models than mx518 like g5, mx1000? do you have long hands (7.5")? [2 hours of game play and my ring finger aches with the mx310.]

anyone who has used the copperhead? and has long hands? [man, this is getting funny ;)]. i'm in for the comfort, the glow of it is secondary. ;)

ive got Ch and a big hand, and i like the Copperhead more than the MX518, mx was heavy and bulky, where is ch is light and easier to manuver...

Id say go for CH if you can....

I got longs hands. And a CH.

Its the perfect mouse for me.

Personally the G5 sucks, the stupid grainy textuxe on the thumb rest is irritating and my hand keeps slipping off. Wait adjustment catridge sucks. The stupid weights shift around inside. Making it unsteady. Plus, you just cant get a damn perfect weight :@.

I've used 510, 518 and CH. CH is way better in sensitivity but I like the shape of the 510/518. Personally I found little difference between the two.

hmmm. all thumbs up to CH. let's see. which one, A/C/T (anarchy / chaos / tempest)? currently, T.

i think the mousepad that i use is not good too. when i use the mx310 on a table it appears to be smooth and on the mousepad it "drags". besides, it's heavier than the prior mouse so the drag is noticable. the pad is the older one (textured for ball mouse); i still use this since the normal dell mousepads make the optical mice skip. what kind of mousepad is recommended (not just for mice like CH but for any optical one)?

Well, a cheap mouse pad would be an Xtrac Ripper ($12) or a Steelpad QcK($10).

I started off with the QcK+($15), then the Xtrac Ripper XL($15) and now a Mantis($25).

Do go for a smooth cloth pad for no dragging at all. Id recommend the Mantis Speed. If you can get it.

goldenfrag (or others), there are recent reviews (dated 03/2006) about compatibilty problems of mouse drivers with windows. how bad are the problems? i've not got the mouse yet but i'd decide once newegg solves my RAM issue.

suggestions?

As I said earlier, you'd have to experiment a bit to find a suitable mouse (especially since you are having trouble with the MX310). Since the 310 is a problem, no point going for the 510 which is similar in shape. You might want to get your hands on a Razer Diamondback, CopperHead or G5. Walk down to Fry's or Best Buy and see if they're on display so you can try them out...

CH (tempest) is okay for me. i'd go for the mantis speed mouse pad too.

"i'd have to put the newest drivers and flash the firmware to the newest version."

flash the firmware of the CH mouse?

i just got the CH and mantis speed (on the way). with my current mouse pad it's skipping a lot. but once i get the speed, i'd try which dpi suits me.

Did you flash the firmware to the latest?

The CH with the default firmware, is horrible. Atleast when i got it, it was :P.

The damned thing would move across half the screen in CS, even if i moved it an Inch :P (2000 DPI/3 dots windows/1.5 Sensi ingame :P)

it did install the drivers from the site. driver version: 6.09

what's the firmware version?

i'm trying somethings since it's moving a lot even on the mantis speed. perhaps the reason being that i lift up the mouse as i'm used to optical mice.

using: driver 6.09, firmware 6.17b

anyways, i found that the mouse skips a lot with the above d/f (driver / firmware) at 1000mhz / 800dpi. 400dpi is too slow and 1600 dpi is too quick. in 1000mhz / 800dpi while i move the mouse slowly in vertical (say +-10 degrees), there's no moment in vertical direction but only horizontal. so, uninstalled d/f. currently, i'm just on windows drivers with the least DPI mode (400dpi) and the pointer speed at 2 levels less than the fastest (windows).

if someone who's using a CH / razer mouse then could you please let me know the mhz / dpi and the windows settings they use? thanks!!
