And for a li'l extra, the G.Skills offer terrific performance than the Tracers..

Eyes closed.. :|

And for Gaming + Music, nothin beats the X530. Mx5021 if music is ahead of gaming.. ;)

And for 3k more, u wont get a DELL 22incher.. Maybe the Benq but DELL pawns the Benq...

yeah agree GSkill is best, but see below RAM, Crucial Ballastix Tracer 1066MHz @ 79$ :hap2:
Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Yes I used "IF U just listen to music".

Im talking abt Dell (Dont know abt taxes etc), I m big fan of DELL, Personally I like Samsung 226BW but its priced very high in INDIA.

@gannu: Dude, such a powerful rig and just a "average" 19" widescreen? A 3870X2 for running games at a lowly 1440x900?! I sense that you like hardware for the sake of hardware and not for results. :D

A 22" monitor anyday man. 13.5k will get you anything. :) Heck, I'd suggest a 24" also at ~17.5k while dropping to a 8800GT OC.

Payne

you two fight about tracer vs gskill EVERYWHERE :D

pleej stop :D

imo, its useless to invest in super overclocking ram...isnt it better to get 4 X 1gb ddr2 800mhz normal sticks instead

comeon, nobody can tell the performance difference due to ram overclocking other than by benchmarking

i just feel you can go for 2gb of normal ram for 2k and spend the rest of the money elsewhere...like better speakers or larger screen or sumthing

and btw...for 13-13.5k, you can get a 22inch dell lcd screen

All Group Orders ended and besides the E228WFP after shipping wud come up to 14k mark...

The same applies to u too payne!!! :p

Hey! ppl

need help in building my own rig for core gaming + movies + internet

Here's what i had in mind.....

1)CPU - Q6600 - need suggestion for equivalent C2D

2) MOTHERBOARD- P5KC - Need to know whether this is future compatible and a good brand

3)Kingston 2 x 1 GB DDR2 800 MHz Memory

4) Seagate 320 GB PMR SATA Hard Disk

5) Lite-On 20X DVD Writer

6) ViewSonic VA1912WB / VA1940 Monitor

7) Logitech MX-518 Gaming Mouse

8) ATX Cabinet with Zebronics 500 Watts

For the graphics card confused between 8800 GT / 9600 GT / HD3870 X2

Also need suggestions for cooling solutions.

Need to keep the budget under 60K

Thanks

go in for a 22 inch DELL pretty cheap these days and will fit in your budget easy . also look into going for a ABIT MOBO , asus RMA sucks big time. u will want to go with a cabinet like the cm690 or the chieftec or some other good brand, get in a PSU from corsair vx450 , or the cm 600 , or seventeam 500 or the tagan 500w , avoid PSU from zebronics n vip .

rest all looks good. u can fit all this in 60 k easily.

For monitor I would Suggest Dell 24" or 22". Get the monitor from Dingemini's GO so you get at a cheaper rates. I got my E248WFP on 13th march, ordered form his GO.

1. Get the E8400; it performs better than the Quad in most games like UT3..
Its cheaper than the quad as well.. Mite fetch u around 9.2k..

2. Couple this proccy with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme CPU cooler + 2 Glacialtech120mm fans.. Tat shud set u back by around 3.4k..

3. Get a 8800GT.. Performs better than the 9600GT.. Shud be around the 12k mark.. The 3870X2 will be around 21k+, so i doubt if it wud fit within the 60k budget..

Get a 24incher only if Full HD is ur concern else the 22incher is the best option.. The extra 2inches of real estate in the 24inchers arent worth the buck now.. Whereas the entry level 22incher from Dell E228WFP will be close to 15k...

Besides there shud be a powerful gfx card tat shud drive those 24inchers... :)

No it won't... Intel is moving to new core (Nehalem) & three new sockets by the end of this year & budget CPU's will come up early next year..

The CPU has an integrated memory controller so the sockets are incompatible.... I guess by late 2009 Socket 775 will be EOL & CPU's discontinued...

Max life you have is another 2.5 years after that you will have to upgrade RAM + CPU + Mobo....

^^^Lo'l..

In computers the definition of future is perhaps the next 2-2.5 ys and I guess its understood... ;)

@gannu_rox - Well i planned to go with the Quad as games coming up in the next yr or so might need more processor power. Q6600 is available for 11k in nehru place so spendin a couple k extra would be a better option ....

Graphics card - Am willing to compromise on other details inorder to get a good graphics card...so planning to get a HD3870X2 from UK -will cost me around 18K..n is better than an 8800GT.

As for the cabinet are any available in delhi with having the cooling fans already in place.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK very few games will use all the 4 cores for processing..
Tat option is left to u...

3870X2 fer 18k is a steal.. :)

Get a Coolermaster CM690 cabby... Its priced around 4200 bucks..
A good one with bottom-mount PSU...

However the cooling fans it comes with sucks..
Get 3-4 Glacialtech 120mm @ around 340 bucks ac.. has good CFM..

In delhi, the CM690 shud be available @ NP.. Consult SMC and Comp Empire..

Thebanik is a freq n trusted customer of SMC so get in touch with him n see if u can get the CM690 @ a good price.. :)

I know this but get the practical aspect, why would one want to get an EOL or nearing EOL product... That too the price concerning will be negligibly low than the newer socket chips...

So practically this config will be viable in all senses for one year... then its foolishness to look for outdated hardware... Even though EOL products are available in the market for quite some time..... we do get P4 chips.... but does it makes sense to go for them...

Got the point.... :eek:hyeah: :eek:hyeah:
