My Personal Suggestion would be to go for i5 rig as it would be cheaper & performace difference is 10-15% less only..

Is the 70k just for the cpu? In that case its ok. But if youare looking at an overall budget of 70k for an i7 rig I dont think thats possible. I recently bought a i5 rig and it costme around 76k total.

i5 750 - 9400

msi p55 gd65 - 8950

1tb seagate sata - 4000

samsung 22x - 1100

benq g2420 - 10700

apc 1kva - 4200

corsair tx 750 - 7000

saphire hd 5850 - 15900

kingston 2*2gb ddr3 - 5200

cm 690 transparent - 4500

with tax and everything around 76k.

tx 850W ( he is planning on getting 5970 after smetime, so nt sure whether 850 wld be enuf ) ~ 9k

I want you to stop your friend from buying a 5970. Instead a 5870 is 'The' perfect choice.

Well unless and until he wants to burn some cash needlessly , he could use that money for some other components 'cause a 5870 is beast itself.

he aint gonna buy 5970 rite away... it ll take a min of 9 months, so tht his dad wld forget the hole dats gonna be burnt in his pocket now ;)

neways... either 5870 or 5970, am nt sure whether 850W psu wld be able to handle...

he wnt OC too...

any suggestions...?

Even a TX650 will be able to stand with 5870/5970. And if he has a strict budget of 70k, then you should seriously consider the i5 configs.

Better to go with i5 configuration.

CPU - i5 750 (10.2k)
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R (11.8k)
PSU - Corsair VX 550 (5.8k)
GPU - Sapphire HD 5850 (16k approx)
Mouse - Logitech MX 518 (1.5K)
RAM - GSkill 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ (6K)

Rest go with what naveen suggested.
