The GPU will matter more at higher resolutions of HD and above. At lower resolutions, the CPU will take over as the predominant factor for framerates.

Hence, when u see processor benchmark, u see benchmarks carried out at 1024x768.

The CPU does play a essential role to ensure smoother frames, but at HD, the GPU power would have to be a lot more than the CPU and the CPU like E5200 when overclocked gives the GPU a free lane to use its full bandwidth. Hence, u see graphics benchmarks in HD resolutions.

As already said in post 5 and also by Amien, different games use resources differently, so test out different games and benchmarks to get the feel of an increase in performance.

Finally, do all testing at the resolution u'll be playing on, since that matters. If u are not getting an increase, could u post screenshots of 3DMark06 or Vantage with CPU-Z screenie.
