Two deaths, 16 fresh GBS cases reported in Maharashtra
The total number of cases now mounted to 127; about 20 patients are on ventilator, according to data of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme by Public Health Department

GBS is a rare neurological disorder that leads to sudden numbness, muscle weakness, and, in severe cases, paralysis. Symptoms include limb weakness and loose motions.

This bacterium is commonly found in undercooked poultry and unpasteurized dairy products.
Another new thing to worry about.

GBS is not new. Should be called a Campylobacter jejuni outbreak instead of a GBS outbreak. With GBS being a rare autoimmune complication triggered by C. jejuni and numerous other bacteria, viruses, vaccines, etc., it is very treatable and recoverable if managed at a good center. Treatment will be costly and may take a lot of time to full recovery in some individuals
