Argentian coach should be sacked, period...

I agree,..what an idiot. dint play either messy or saviola and substituted riquelme. he must be out of his mind. :S

he can be excused partly coz of that injury to his goalkeeper. :p

but it was a good match..enjoyed it and thats what i wanted. a good fight between two good teams. i'd have loved to see Argentina win but anyways...

I believe it was stupid on Argentina's part on not bringing Messi in..

Why do they hesitate so much? He could have been the difference.. Doesn't the coach think so? For Pete's sakes, even the legendary Maradona has acknowledged that Messi is the future..

I understand he couldn't be brought in into this particular game because the Goalkeeper had to be unfortunately substituted.. But the coach certainly hesitates in bringing Messi in. If at all he's brought in, it only comes at the fag end, which really is ridiculous.

In the end, I feel it is pretty agonising for a team like Argentina to go out of a WC like this. They played attacking soccer, but Germany matched them in every department..

EDIT : Didn't bet on this one :(

I watche the match from the second half and good that all the ction happened after that... Simply put one of the best matches of World Cup 2006 so far... I agree with aces... Agertine coach should be sacked... They never looked confident while talking the shootouts... What a shame... The German goalkeeper was soooooo confident when he stopped the second penelty kick... You could just about feel it before the kick took place....

Now just wait and lets see what France & Brazil has to offer... But i am sure its not gonna go in extra time for sure... We will have a result in first 90 minutes... This way or that way... And people remember... Ronaldinio still hasnt shown his full colors in the WC so far.... Today might be his day...

The first half of this match was one of the best football match i have seen. although it was goalless the Argentinian ball skills and anticipation was one of the best i have seen.
unfortunately thay scored a goal too early in the second half. this made them go defensive and ruined their chances of winning.

They got a raw deal in the second half from the refree too. too many yellow cards awarded to them by the "acting" of the german players. this restricted their gameplay further. on the other hand the physical assualts of the germans went unpunished as expected.

The "White" men , in general, cannot play football as well as the south american or african players. yesterdays match just reinforced my belief.

The second match Italy / Ukraine was one of the most boring matches.

I am only happy that Jans Lehmann has answered his critics (for the time being).

When he was chosen ahead of Kahn, there was so much criticism and debate. But now, he has proved himself.

I only hope he doesnt do something stupid in the rest of the World Cup. He has a lot of goodwill going for him now in Germany. He should ruin all that.

yeah look at the arrogance/confidence he showed when defending the last kick...A save was just waiting to happen....could see it coming frm a mile

Exactly my thoughts. Also, once the Argentine goal keeper was substituted, I knew if it was status quo, the Germans would easily win in a penalty shoot-out. The new goal keeper just wouldn't be good enough. And so it was.
