Those of you with Seagate drives can download - Seagate Disk Wizard for FREE. You won't even have to register for that! ;)

Its powered by Acronis and does the job quite well. I was able to copy my Vista installation from one HDD to another and it worked flawlessly. Oh, did I mention? both are almost the same with a few minor differences here and there. :D

^^ that means one vista img on on hdd works when applied on a different seagate hdd..:S

Yup...it lets you copy the entire HDD with all the partition data intact. If the new HDD is larger or smaller than the older one, it also lets you resize the partitions accordingly.

^ I think what he meant to ask was would it work on non seagate hdds  anyway it does work on other brands of HDD's as long as there's atleast one seagate drive in the system

Oh...I'm not sure about that. I think you need to have at least one Seagate HDD in your system.

PS: I'm talking about Seagate Disk Wizard here and not Acronis True Image.

doesnt acronis true image have this feature for all hdds?

yes, of course but Acronis True Image is a paid software.

I suggested Seagate Disk Wizard as an alternative in case you're unable to take advantage of this acronis free offer.

i too got it. Using TATA connection and my lovely favorite OPERA :D

Gonna give u a rep.

On a side note, Acronis products have nothing much other than very good UI. True image for that sake is one of the most unreliable soft in this domain I think. Created on image of entire Win xp with all softwares i need and everything set. And now stupid True image doesnt accept their own file (saying file not recognised.) All my efforts setting up OS and everything gone the drain.

Same was the case with their partition manager. Cant understand how do they complete moving, resizing and other complex tasks in a seconds.

I tried it and got hell lot of crosslinked (corrupt data) :@

In this domain, reliability of software is most imp feature. Symantec ones are way too better.

So word of caution: Keep alternative / other options / backups ready while trying applications from acronis.

No offense man, but you work for symantec if I remember correctly, right? Thats not ethical :bleh:
