Get Ready India, Here Comes the iPhone

Just seen this article on the net...
Indian Apple fans can breathe a sigh of relief as a date seems to be near for the iPhone's Indian launch. Come September, Vodafone just might be bringing the legendary handset to the country and no longer will we have to ponder over the big question – WHEN?
It seems European sales are dropping and China Mobile has already said 'no' to being a carrier. The 8GB version of the Vodafone iPhone is expected to arrive in the first week of September, and the price is estimated to be in the range of Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000.

Although jailbroken iPhones are already available in the country, this is our chance to get a guaranteed genuine iPhone with no need for any messing around, at least to make it workable with a provider. The only difference is it’s available in the gray market for a whole lot cheaper. Stay tuned.

Will 3G iPhone launch in Sept or June?

Anywayz, they'll dump their old version in India first...

Just put a terrible looking creature in your avatar and everybody will read your threads... :bleh:
Just kidding... ;)

Sorry m8, I had a look at the threads before posting to find if this news was already posted, but I missed your thread :ashamed:
So, Vodaphone for Indian iPhone is like the same deal as AT&T for US iPhone. No one seems happy...

28,000 sounds like crap to me. If the similarly priced 400$ iPod Touch is officially available for 23,600, then why should the 400$ iPhone cost any more?

Check this link.

Why the hell will it have 3G when Indian carriers don't? Sheesh.

It will sell, but only the fools will actually buy 1 here. (Un)fortunately, India is full of such people. What's stopping the rest from getting one much cheaper from the states and unlocking it?

After sales service and official updates which are a lot simpler to do

but guess a 10k price difference doesnt justify better aftersales service!!!!  like selling a 400 $ iphone for 28k, they are almost selling it at 66% more than the US market...thts daylight robbery!!!!!

I know couple of idiots around my neighborhood who got iPhone from gray. None of those d**kwads are using net on iPhone. The only reason they bought it for is the current trend.

IMO, without net access on iPhone it doesn't make much sense to plunk down the money on it. What is the point of getting a device with good internet facilities and not using the net on it. You wanted a music, get an iPod. it costs much lesser than iPhone and gives you more space to dump your crap.

Offcourse they will, we don't have 3G facilities yet in India, so it makes us an ideal option to get rid of the old stock. Can't blame them. Service providers here are suckers anyways.

All these news just seem like speculation and hype to me. Lets wait for the official announcement for apple/vodafone, shall we! :D

God when are these stupid rumours about iphone rates stop

If you use it properly and have a bit of luck, you don't need any after sales service.

Official updates? So unlocked iPhones cannot be updated through iTunes? Uhh yeah they can.

As for unlocking/jailbreaking, nowadays it has come down to connecting your phone and pressing a button. If that isn't simple, I dunno what is.
