HI TE,
Just installed latest riva tuner in my rig but getting error while starting it
here are the error
capturemu.jpg
1st this

20103030.jpg
then 2nd this error

i am using windows 7 64bit,so tried all windows mode i.e xp,vista but same error:mad: did any one face this problem

My rig is
AMD phenom 2 955
msi 790gx-g65
gtx 275(latest driver)
ddr3 4gb 1600mhz

hey i too got the same problem in win 7 x64... but found the cause for that
After extracting the RivaTuner224c-[Guru3D.com].exe ...
two files will be created inside the setup folder..
1)RivaTuner224MSIMOA2009Edition.exe
2)RivaTuner224MSIMOA2009EditionDrv.rtu

when u are installing the RviaTuner exe make sure the .rtu file is available in the same folder.. if the .rtu files is not available RivaTuner wont install the Required driver to function...

Also make sure u are running the setup files with (Run As Administrator)
Hope this will solve ur problem

Tried MSI afterburner but there i am not able to change few things i.e gpu fan speed, shader clock, core voltage

woot?

try the usermanual on the link i listed.

fan speed management is much better than CCC, it is like bios modification..

you can even define fan speed curve with respect to temperature and speed.

you are not able to change speed because the 'Auto' mode is selected.

you see the auto button above the fan speed bar?

click it to disable it.

to define the speed curve..

click on User Defined next to that.

read the user manual for detailed explanation...

or can it be because for this reason (not sure )

Fudzilla - Nvidia’s 196.21 driver bug prevents overclocking

And its not mine card, one of the friend so don't want to take risk by making much tweaks i just want to check the temp of gtx 295 on max fan speed with 3dmarks running

Aman31,

Have you confirmed with the Microsoft Windows Compatibility Center that the Riva Tuner is compatible with Windows 7? The Microsoft Windows Compatibility Center is available here: http://bit.ly/1gW6Ns

Should you require additional assistance and feedback Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here Windows 7 IT Pro Category . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams.

@madnav see the 9th post by my i tried older driver too but same issue, any other way to solve this problem?

ANYONE FACED THIS ISSUE?

fan control will work only if the card has fan controller.
check and see if the fan has 2wires or 3wires.
i have seen a lot of 4670s and 4850 lately from palit msi and sapphire with 2pin fan which have no effect on fan speed even if changed to 100% from CCC.
card your dealing with is pretty much high end, such inferior quality fan implementation is still not expected...but confirm it anyways...

Yes my card has fan controller, there are 3 wires for fan in my card and i just installed xp 32bit and installed riva tuner its working fine all OCing tools i.e shader clock, memory clock, core volt, core clock and fan speed too:eek:hyeah:

Whats your forceware driver version..?

Was using latest i.e 196.21 but came to know that this driver version doesn't allow OCing:mad: saw this issue on many other threads, now again back to 195.62

err.
one thing you can still try...
uninstall and reinstall MSI afterburner as Admin..
also try running it as Admin before and after doing above step..
might just work..
no idea why the afterburner is acting weird

Aman:

For the sake of posterity, use only one OC'ing software. As it is, the ForceWare is making hardware level changes on the GPU, and now you will have Riva and MSI After Burner doing the same. High probability of conflicts happening. This is just a safety feature, people might argue, that they use 3-4 OC software at the same time -- well the less parameters you have, easier to weed out problems. So...

1. Choose on OC software you want to use. (Uninstall all)

2. Remove the Forceware driver.

3. Boot into safe mode desktop and use Driver sweeper to remove all nVidia traces.

4. Boot into normal desktop -- install the Forceware. Restart.

5. Install the OC software from (1) which you chose. IF you use Riva make sure it is version 2.24.

By the way, how are the BSODs doing...!!!

yup use one.

since riva tuner is working out for you, stick to it.

MSI afterburner is the same thing with a little makeup. (powered by rivatuner in the end)

@madnav I didn't used 2 OCing software at a time 1st i tried Rivatuner then un-installed it after that i tried MSI afterburner.i want to stick with Rivatuner only but its working in xp only what about in Windows 7,and here is one more utility which is working fine both at XP as well as 7,its VTune.

@asingh I will stick with Rivatuner only, and ya about BSOD,didn't get till now but this is what is was talking about CCC chipset, should i install it or not? as i am having Nvidia VGA card
70170186.jpg

@ TE MEMBERS...BUT WHAT ABOUT RIVATUNER:mad: WHY ITS NOT WORKING ON WINDOWS 7 64 bit..

Aman:

errr...errrm...you are confused.

CCC is not a chipset. It is the driver+end user interface that you use ONLY AND ONLY if you have a card with an ATI core. That screen image which you posted (customize install) for ATI Catalyst, should never ever appear on your system if you are using a nVidia card. Its like trying to wear two pairs of shoes on the same foot. Yes you can, but it will cause hindrance. So take the CCC CD, and throw it in the dustbin.

The reason you are having issues with Rivatuner, cause it is a driver / left over .DLL files issue. Do the steps 1---5 and I mentioned in post#17, and you should be good to do.
