I will be relocating soon from Chennai to Noida soon, and was wondering if I should get an NOC in Chennai for driving in Noida. Is it strict in Noida about vehicles from the South? I have heard vehicles from the North aren't stopped.

Additionally, has anyone gone through the process of getting an NOC? The people I spoke to all got it done through a broker, so apparently the costs were higher. Online I did read a few cases when people got it done on their own, but paid much lesser. I don't mind paying a few extra bucks if it helps me get the job easily. Any extra tips that need to be kept in mind for an NOC from Chennai?

I am not sure if my knowlege on this matter is accurate but here it is.
I have a DL registered car here in Mysore. Most of the people i know they have got an NOC through some broker in n around RTO itself, as communicating in a different language to get the thing done is almost impossible.
What i wanted to point out was that You will have to pay the Road Tax for Tamil Nadu if you would want to drive there longer(>3 months), now that is quite a sum of money. So what i would suggest you to do is see how the Situation is there,( I hvnt seen many cops stop cars except late in night there,) and based on that go in for all the Govt jhamela.

^ Actually I will be moving FROM Chennai to Noida. I was reading that the cops aren't that strict in that area as far as out of state registrations are concerned. The huge road tax that I will have to pay is what is acting as a major deterrent.

Oh sorry yaar .. i dont knw why i was under the impression that you are in Noida. If you are going to Noida then dont worry about NOC and all. Cops here can be dealt with in as low as Rs 50 so no point paying a huge sum of money towards Road Tax.

get it done through agent / broker. doing it on your own will lead to multiple trips to RTO. you need to get the NOC because if ever your vehicle is towed or caught in traffic violation then you need the certificate otherwise they might take your vehicle. and they are vigilant ( not strict ) in delhi / noida if you break rules.
