Hello friends,

Recently my friend bought xfx pv-t98g-ya gfx card which have only dvi n hdmi outputs. but his monitor is having only vga input. we didnt notice this while buying card n thought that a converter will work. But with dvi to vga converter, no display comes. Checked card on another monitor having dvi input. Card working fine. On card box it is written that only dvi n hdmi output. Now what to do for card to work. otherwise i hv to give it back.

Pls reply soon.

dude wats that xfx pv-t98g-ya??? it is xfx 9800gt.

first of all i assume your friend was previously using onboard display so in some bios it needs to disabled first.

remove the card and using his onboard video enter the bios and set init display first to PCIE or GFXO.

& also set Assign IRQ For VGA to yes or enabled.

the above thing should work else

finally disable onboard video.

btw me too using the same card from xfx.

yes. it is 9800gt. Btw i hv already set primary display to pcie in bios. I didnt know abt second thing. I will check n let u know.

Thanks for reply.

Hello friends,

On card box, it is written that output type are DVI & HDMI. Does it mean that it can not work on monitor having only VGA outputs. Even DVI to VGA converter is also not working.

@ronit:- What is your monitor input port? DVI or VGA?

my lcd has both dvi n vga and standby crt monitor has vga.

i tested on both displays vga and it works great.

btw which monitor you r trying on?

may be your dvi to vga has gone kaput--though it shouldnt, but try with another one.

My dvi to vga converter is fine. checked with my system. My friend took his cpu to rashi periferals to check what is problem with card. They checked it there also the same problem n they simply told that vga is not supported on this card(with converter also). Now my friend returned the card n got his money back. Now we are thinking of getting 5670.

Btw if card is not supporting vga but only dvi, then what is the use of converter? And why the hell in my case it is not giving display in vga mode through converter also?

i wonder how could those people give such illogical foolish reasons?? but glad, atleast you got complete refunds. It never happened with anyone. Atleast for now every gfx has and should support VGA no matter what. VGA is still common and favorites there though DVI is taking its place.

You can happily go for 5670 but still confirm with the retailer whether it supports vga.
