Ghajini: Movie Impressions

Saw the movie yesterday. Those who've seen the original Ghajini wont miss any action except for the climax.

I felt Aamir did a good job if not better. Equalled Surya except for his toned down body and the 6-pack. I loved Surya a notch better!

Asin did some spectacular acting. One scene worth mentioning is, when she finds out those Gundas hiding at her home ready to stab her and she gets scared! The bgm was good.

Jiah Khan was a total let down. :no: Someone else could've done a better role. Nayanthara would've been better at it.

Neither did I feel ARR did the music for this movie. Harris Jayaraj was a lot lot better at it.

But I liked the movie. Would rate it 8/10.

Heard all the reviews are a let down?

Usually, Tamil movies remade into Hindi don't do that well. I thought atleast Aamir would buck the trend!

Tamil original was awesome enough for me - Don't want to see the movie just for Aamir's abs!

SantaBanta has given 4.5/5 wth. But will definitely watch the movie.

OT: atleast south cinema must bring a lawsuit in India to stop copying their scripts, bloody bolly copiers must die, south cinema is much more creative and good then bollywood

tamil ghazni is better ,I hope.becaise tamil hero surya did a great acting.

Hindi ghazni may have been better ,if they got the film directed by a non-tamil director.hence the flaws.

1st half was very nice.

2nd half got boring...since the plot was very well expected, of what will happen.

overall -- 7/10

Its only a ONE time movie to watch

Ghajini : 7/10

Ok ... now let me clear all the misconceptions about this movie. Ghajni is NOT Memento. The only similarities between the two movies is the overall theme of revenge , the Polaroid camera and the tattoos. Apart from that Ghajini is a total different experience. So please stop comparing it with Memento.

Now the second question. Is Ghajini any good? The answer is Yes, but its nothing exceptional. There are so many plot holes and basic logical flaws that it hampers the whole movie experience. The whole concept of 15 minutes memory Loss is flawed as we see Aamir do things which are impossible to do in a 15 minutes time span. This happens not once but many times throughout the movie. The second area where it fails to impress is the emotional quotient. Somehow the film fails to connect with the audience. While Aamir's performance is brilliant, I found his transformation from a calm and composed business tycoon to a murdering psycho very unbelievable. The music although decent is below Rahman's standards. Asin impresses, Jia is ok and the main villain Ghajini is decent although his haryanvi accent sounds very weird.

Overall, Ghajini is an out an out bollywood entertainer. Families might be put off by the violence which is shown throughout the movie in a typical bollywood style. To give it its due credit, it does an exceptional job of not boring the audience throughout its 3 hr long runtime. Ghajini is strictly a one time watch. I would give it a 3/5 rating.

Read my short review. Ghajni has NOTHING in common with Memento except for the general theme of revenge and a very few other similarities.

what I meant is if hindi version suppose if got directed by a hindi director it may be better.

because ,there is some basic change in perception by different kind of audience(in this case hindi) and the south director may not be knowing this fully.

^ Thats true. This was specially evident in the casting. A major part of the cast was south Indian.
