There's something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna' call? GHOSTBUSTERS!

Yes that's right folks. The ghost ass kicking team is back and this time, in a arcade form. It's new game, titled Sanctum of Slime, is set to release in Spring on all the platforms, YAY! and it has 4 player couch and online co-op. Hells YEAH!

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will be a downloadable follow-up to 2009's Ghostbusters: The Video Game, 'cause Gozer knows publisher Atari can barely afford a full-cost sequel. Being developed by Assault Heroes creator Wanako (now named Behavior Studios), the four-player (online and couch co-op) top-down action game will not feature any voice work by the original Ghostbusters like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. It's still unclear whether their characters even appear, or if they've been replaced by a new team of specter hunters.

Sanctum of Slime, to be released in the Spring of 2011 on XBLA, PSN and PC, will have players taking the role of "the rookie," who was introduced in the 2009 game. We don't have more details beyond what little information and screens were given to USA Today, so let's just cross our streams and hope for the best.

PS: For co-op, I call dibs on Venkman.

Me too. Have seen all their cartoon series, played all their games and alerted them whenever there was an ectoplasmic activity. :P

Even the ones on NES?

Yep. My memory is a bit hazy about the first NES title, but it was a moronic game, even for it's time. The sequel was a side-scrolling game, if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure I had played the Sega Genesis one in one of our local game parlour, as I never owned a Sega console. The 2009 one was an awesome title, had a blast playing it. I really enjoy arcade titles, as they somehow bring out the best in the classic games. Hope this game lives up to the expectations. :)

I would still love to see a game on Extreme Ghostbusters. I guess a dark version like that similar to Batman:AA would be awesome. The soundtrack of Extreme Ghostbusters still gives me goosebumps :D

I got it for the PC. I played the tutorial level and it seemed OK'ish. One of those games, which is best enjoyed in co-op. Unfortunately, it doesn't have online co-op on the PC. I'm not sure why they left out such a crucial feature. It doesn't even allow us to connect via LAN. Only couch co-op. Now ain't that something. Pfft!

Watching the online video reviews, they say the AI is completely dimwitted and you'll spend more time reviving them then you'll spend fighting the bosses. Also constant reminder for repititive environments has been given. So if you're trying out the game alone, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. :P

^So I take it that offline co-op like Shank/Tomb Raider is present? Roomie has a wired X360 controller so not a problem there. But I need a wireless receiver for the X360 controller. :(

Need to play Deathspank and it's expansion as well. :@

Yes, offline co-op works. So you either need 2 controllers OR one controller and the second person on Keyboard & Mouse. 4 players would need a similar setup.

Getting raped in the Level 10: 'Gates of the Dead'. All thank to the dumf*ck AI, we mostly end up reviving them, instead of the other way round. There is this one part, where there are just wave after wave of blue/red/yellow slime zombies coming in from all sides, and 4-5 Slime Hands. Not only that, we also have those grave digger ghosts and a Golem showing up. This is nuts. :@

LOL what did I tell you! The reviewers were right after all. :P

Glad I decided to chuck this one off the list before.

Completed the game yesterday. Took us at least 6-7 tries to clear the 'Gates of the Dead' level, but it was worth the effort. I never cared about the PC AI anyway, so my brother and me co-ordinated properly to clear that part. It was really frustrating, but luck favoured us. Chapter 11 was purely composed of boss fights from all the previous levels. If it weren't for the incompetent AI, the repetitive level design and the lack of online/LAN co-op, this game would have been a really good arcade title. It's fun, if you have all 4 human players.
