If Gigabyte is sponsoring the #1 winner's trip to the GOOC regional finals, apart from the other prizes, the least they can expect that participants use only Gigabyte mobos. :)
I would have done the same- nothing wrong with that imho.
You think Gigabyte will provide Asus mobos to participants at the GOOC finals or AOCC will have Gigabyte mobos?
Banik posted that the "gigabyte only" restriction applies to the India qualifier only. Which is why i questioned it. It makes perfect sense for them to ask people to use their boards, apart from the obvious, nearly all the boards they make right now are golden. =)

In hindsight, they may also be doing damage control for the participants. :P
How you ask?
Well, if someone fooks up their mobo at home, there is atleast hope of getting it rmaed as the local Gigabyte ASS has been quite good till date.
Now think of some other mobo and having to approach, Rashi, Tirupati, Top Notch, etc for rma. :death:
XD. Agreed. No argument there.

All the best guys, post pics. of your qualifying runs if possible. :)

Don't think I would be participating thanks to work and some other project that is going on which takes up a lot of my time :)

Best Of Luck once again Banik,Shripad,Harshal and all others who would be participating

Sad man, though even I am not willing to put money on 930/950/975, there time is over, :ohyeah:. So will post some scores with a UD4P board and a 661 and hope to get the UD7,

Best of luck to Harshal and Shripad and hope that you change your mind as well, :)

I dont have a problem when companies put restriction of only their motherboards in a contest run by them but I guess you didnt understand my post properly, India is not the only country where these qualifiers are being run, and there is no restriction of only giga mobos in other country qualifiers but well there is nothing we can do about it.....and atleast the qualifiers are being held so thats a start.

@ Bikey, stop spaming and start showing numbers!
@ Banik, I will talk to them and update the rules for 2D benching. As for you going on about them not allowing other company mobos.. its their call. To participate or not to, is yours. Don't just start complaining about what's not there.. please appreciate the efforts of those few who besides me have made this possible. :)
@ Amey, sounds sissy man... Lord is facking magnanimous. But just to clear this for once, since I am going to be judging this one along with Gigabyte Staff. This time people can actually have fun ;)

To everyone who is sitting on GBT P55 or X58.. it's time to show the skills and no I am not going to spoil your fun this time around! All the best!! :)

You needn't tell me all that Banik sir- many will vouch for the fact that i am not the "new kid on the block" (no pun intended).

Seems like you didn't get my post- the answer is in your reply itself.

Please allow me to simplify it. :)

India is not the only country where these qualifiers are being run- in fact it's the first time here.

Three cheers for Gigabyte and TE and that person who helped initiate this new era in Indian OCing scene, whom i shall not name. :P

But India maybe the only country where a lot of brand pushing goes on for reasons of business/profit/margins/"sucking up to manuf/distro"/... etc. :cool2:

So maybe the organisers saw it as an opportunity to not only introduce people (esp the enthusiasts) to the goodness of Gigabyte mobos,

but also meet some additional sales targets- after all money makes the world go round. :cool2:

And as mentioned earlier, the final will have Gigabyte mobos only just as an AOCC will have Asus mobos only.

If one doesn't have a good Gigabyte mobo yet, now is all the more reason to get one and compete for those fabulous prizes. :)

Also think of it as facilitating familiarity with Gigabyte mobos so that one is not stumped in case they make it to the Regional finals. :ohyeah:

AAAhhhhhhh just sold my Thor's Hammer and too much work I can't OC man.....hope better luck next year...

Sad as only seagate is here..

No good RAMs too to OC :( :S

Best of luck to other participents who will participate...hope to meet you guys next year :D

Happy Burning..!!!
I am broke :(

Best of luck to Participants!

i won't be able to participate as i don't have the hardware! :( (got a AMD rig)

hey I've got a DFI Lan Party t3eh6 Motherboard will i be able to participate?
Nope, Gigabyte only.

what does this means?

Exactly what it says. Engineering/review samples given out when/before a new product is launched. Most of them have higher grade silicon than the mass production versions, unlocked multipliers etc. Hence, allowing their use would be unfair as only select individuals have access to them.

^ Submit your scores to HWbot and post here for now I guess. Good luck. :)

EDIT: I think someone needs to create a new community competition, like the one running for the Iran GOOC qualifier.

How will anyone know if someone used a Seagate or WD hdd? :ashamed:

Its a good question. :)
No way to tell AFAIK. Not like you have to include device manager in your SuperPi screenshot (hopefully not for the sake of those taking part...). XD

Eeekkkkk....

I am just a value user so :@

Anyway all the best to the others who are participating. Make us proud mates.

I tried running my UD4P and sadly the board didnt boot up, :( (I left it in a working condition, :()......So no chance of winning that beautiful UD7, :P

Liar liar- pants on fire. :P

But if true- Gigabyte rma has been quite quick and efffective till date- touchwood- so rush to the rma centre asap. :)

You may get a working mobo in 3-7 days mostly. :D

And there''s still so much time- the competition hasn't even begun yet. :P

Sadly its true and the board was won in a competition of sorts from an International forum BUT yeah, I am not gonna let that UD7 slip away so easily,:bleh:, moving my legs and fists vigorously and hoping that I am not hitting empty air,
