There has been a lot of girl bashing lately. And as this question has haunted TE lately, thought i would clear it up a bit.

Check this study out for a Real Life Perspective based on Hard Facts on Why Girls Are Smarter After All.

By almost every benchmark, boys across the nation and in every demographic group are falling behind. In elementary school, boys are two times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with learning disabilities and twice as likely to be placed in special-education classes.

PS : This is a huge article, be patient and read it fully and then you can Flame :) This study is mostly confined to US but we can all extrapolate and apply atleast some aspects of it here ;)
 
well man i didnt read the whole article but no way gurls are smarter d00d.... gurls just follow what thier parents say without questioning y , thats y they do well in studies but boys always ask questions like y shd we study if its not goin to be useful and they want to go after thier dream rather than thier parents dream so to others it looks like the guy is dumb since he aint gettin good marks... thts y they enjoy thier life more than just scoring good marks so smartness doesnt mean just scoring marks....

Furthermore "The Study is confined to US" and appropriate for them only... and also the whole "Smartness" thing depends on how u define smartness as imagine has pointed with his post....

the best example is here only TE compare how many girls are here and how many boys and decide whose on average smarter :tongue:

Its all on a persons decision. I mean, i for one, have no plans of Studying too hard. While my Sister's are Ace students. The study hard all day and 1 of them tops her College, which she is just gonna graduate out of, every year. My Oldest sister, just came in the Top 3 in her "PGDBA" class at Wellingkar.

So i think more than anything, every1 is as smart, but it depends WHO wants to Study and get marks, and who wants to make it in the real world. Im not saying people who do study a lot and get good marks, dont make it. but nevertheless, i hope you got me..
 
I cant agree with this. how come there aren't many women nobel laureautes.

@ systemic anamoly there arent many girls in TE either, well thats debatable man there aren't many girls may be because no one has heard of TE. Or may be the guys who are members here dont tell the girls they know about the forum or they dont browse internet a lot other than to check the mail, any one could be the reason. But the US part i agree.
 
Both girls and boys are equal in all ways..The difference comes to b in the way each of them invest their time and capacities.

if "smartness" is only confined to coming tops in college, then girls are definitely smarter. but unfortunately, the indian education system does not need smart ppl, it needs someone who can cram. there are of course a few exceptions, like good colleges where you are encouraged to think differently..

for me, its not how much you learn that determines your smartness, but rather how much of the knowledge you apply to invent something out of the box..
 
Something I would like to note here is that girls always like to do things in the "tried and tested" method, or what was taught to them. Guys like to do a little variation here and there, and sometimes it costs them, but it shows that boys are willing to take risks.

And considering that girls reach maturity earlier than boys, it puts them at an advantage in the lower classes. But in the time of higher studies, boys are equally mature as girls, and so boys end up having better results.

Add that with the other points I made, and we can pretty much explain for sure why girls do better in the lower classes.
 
good thoughts there.... but for me smartness is not mugging up the subjects and topping in class not even thinking out of the box... but to act in such a way that u make ur life happy with least effort.... thats the botttom line
 
I wud put it in a simple sentence..Girls are good learners...Guys are better thinkers!! What we think..the girls learn and implement..:bleh:
