Please do the replacement in very clean environment. One dust particle and all the data will be permanently gone.

Thanks for the heads up. For now, I would just try the BIOS chip transplant thing, install this one's PCB onto mine, and see if it works. I probably will leave it to pros if it comes to platter swapping; don't have a place clean enough to carry it out.
