Hi,
I have a budget of 7-8K for a decent mid range graphic card. I would be using it for at least a year without upgrading. My proccy is e5200 which i would hopefully OC to 3.5GHz with 4GB RAM. I would be playing at 1440x900 resolution. Please suggest which of the two is better now that they are both in same price range :)

Price:gts 250 is around 0.8-1 k costlier than 4770

Performance:gts 250 gives about 5-10 fps increase over the 4770.

Power Consumption:4770 will consume slightly less power considering the 40 nm chipset.

Crossfire/SLI:4770 definitely beats gts 250

you can choose based on what features you require :)

HD4770 isn't in the same league of GTS 250. Surely, GTs 250 will perform better.. You can go very well for Palit GTS 250 512MB.. :)

price for gts 250 is gr8 now , if ur psu can handle and u got money then get it . otherwise 4770 also not a bad choice .

palit gts 250 costs 7.5k and 4770 costs 6.4k
4770 can be ocd to 900mhz on core which can come very close to gts 250

check out the link in my previous post the 4770 at 900mhz beat gts 250 1gb in crysis at VHQ settings.

IMO 4770 is Best and VFM card now.

4770 is 4-5% slow compare to 4850.OC 4770 and it perform equals to 4850 and if in future u CF 4770 it beat almost all card 260,4870,4890 .It consume low power.

4770 is cheaper, has more overclocking potential, supports DX10.1, isnt a rebrand (if that matters),is the world's first 40nm GPU (should run cooler with less power)

The cons are - price might drop by $10 soon, cooler is ugly and small, idle power is higher than expected, AIB use cheaper components to gain margins.

What a question?

OBvious answer re..... Performance: GTS 250 > HD4850 > HD 4770

VFM
: GTS 250>HD4770>HD4850 @ res higher than 1440x900 (else 4770 more vfm)

So 4770 for u if u dont wish to upgrade monitor in near future.......

But i wud still insist on GTS 250 @ 7.5k..... Overall VFM, Performance, Futureproof and Its Nvidia(Hassle-Free).

i have decided to go with 4770 but i will wait until there are proper driver supports..waiting for CCC 9.5 release...:)
