Hotel Calangute Towers - 3.8k good hotel has all, friends have stayed here
I don't know about any of the hotels you've listed, but if your friends have already stayed out there, then it's a safe bet.
No transports where to get bikes/cars for rent ? will the hotel people give the address ?
Bikes/cars on rent are pretty ubiquitous. You'll spot 'em when you get there. Or it can be arranged through hotel staff as well. (Probably charge you a commission of 50-100 bucks though)
am a party person and since ladies are there we wont go late night shopping/pubbing even though i want to go ;(
but my colleague said that we will stay in north goa and people arent bad it seems i have freaking no clue about that.. i told him we will stay in south but he is adamant
No, people aren't bad. & I think you can safely go out clubbing at night in a group. Goa is generally very safe. Even at night. It's not like a Delhi which is generally pretty notorious in this regard. Just to put things in perspective.
There are certain tourists though that can be a problem. They seem to think that foreigners are of easy virtue just because they wear shorts/skirts/bikinis. They seem to feel the same way about Indians in similar attire. Their idea of fun is to get drunk & misbehave. It's this sort that I was referring to.
I did not mean to say that North Goa is unsafe & South Goa is very safe or anything of the sort. My comment wasn't meant to deter you in any way. It's just that most of the 5 star properties are in the South, so you generally have a better crowd there.
I'll be a bit more specific so you get the proper perspective. Of the 3 trips I've made to Goa, we stayed exclusively in North Goa on the 1st 2. Very enjoyable & saw nothing untoward.
On the 3rd one earlier this year, spent a few days in South & few days in North. On a trip to the Calungute beach sometime in the afternoon, near the "main entrance" to the beach, saw a group boozing. This is right on the street, right outside of the wine store. When a couple of foreign ladies were walking past, one of them jumps right out in front of them & says something. The ladies ignore them & walked past while they jeer.
Five minutes later, a couple of Indian teens barely out of school are walking past. A guy who's loitering about loudly goes "Hey baby!" right to their faces. They ignore & walk past.
& while this chap is behaving this way within hearing range, there are local cab
wallahs asking me if I need a ride. I tried looking for a cop or a chowki. There was none. This was the middle of the day & pretty crowded.
Alarm bells rang in my head & we headed to Baga. It's one thing not having any cop/authority around but if the locals don't even bat an eyelid, it
probably means this is a regular affair.
Also, my observation was that this misbehavior was directed towards unescorted ladies. Hence my comment. Often, when we are out-&-about in a group, some folks tend to drift apart. That's the situation I was referring to.
Am I reading too much into this? Maybe. Such jerks are everywhere. But then it came as a shock to me because I had been to the same place even at night many times earlier & had neither seen nor heard of any such thing. Plus the fact that it was so brazen.
Maybe since it was off-season, there weren't any cops around , therefore leading to such behaviour. I don't know.
Anyway, in summary, Goa is generally pretty safe & very enjoyable. So North/South wherever, just enjoy the trip & have a blast. You'll are 6 guys, so I'm sure you'll can take care of things.
. Bon voyage!
PS: Heard a lot about Tito's, never been there. But my wife's office colleagues say avoid the one in North Goa. They have opened a new branch in the South. That's preferred. Reason: "Bad vs Good crowd". Again, no personal experience, just hearsay.
