Hey guys . . . where can i get a good Air Gun in Bangalore ?
I bought a regular one from SGP road here for ~1600 from a Arms shop....but wanted good gun where i could learn / practise aiming . .

I remember seeing a Air Gun with really good Bino & a small laser too...it was bought from Kanpur ( i dont remember ) , this i had seen at a frnds place ~2 years back..he had @ that time told he had got it for ~2500. . . Any idea where i could find such items here in bangalore? :)

Thnx.

GOOD AIR PISTOL ??? .... Too late ... I sold my 20year old German Feinwerkbau air pistol Dec. 2006 to pay for some computer hardware purchases ... price I got was 12,000/- (and it needed repairs !! If it was in mint condition the going price is 25K :O ) ... very good air pistol but the spring had sprung and needed to be replaced and the buyer had to pay 4000/- for a new spring :ohyeah:

^ Wow eazy! that FWB is an awesome air pistol.

I think super_saiyan needs a cheap air-rifle. Though, for that amount, I don't think you'll get good quality. You might inquire about the local 'diana' from National or equivalents which would be around 3K. Those are better in quality than most other makes here. The main thing is that their rifling quality is good (well not up to international standards, but for the amount.... not bad).

A better alternative would be to join the local shooting club or rifle range. They would have quality air rifles that you can practice with.

Btw Eazy - do you have any other air rifles?

Had a Weihruck 35E Air Rifle with a 10x scope - that was really powerfull - which a friend borrowed from me about 10 years back and soon after he passed away - did not have the heart to ask his old widowed mother for it so it was goodbye Air Rifle.

When I sold the FWB I also sold the same dood my 1960 purchased Diana model 23 Air Rifle for 5k (it was bought brand new by me for under 100/- :) ).

I have always had this fondness for air rifles and hand air guns but sold them all off about 10 years back. I had a very nice GAS operated air pistol - looked like a real S&W revolver and it loaded 6 .177 pellets and it would make a helluva sound from the GAS propellant when fired. Sold it and now the buyer is crying as the GAS cylinders are no longer being made - he uses it as a paper weight :)

National is your best choice in India.
If you want a rifle, then it's their Diana's.

Or you can always get those cheapo roadside ones, they get the job done and some of them even have Walnut finished butts which kinda looks nice.

I own this, the Webley & Scott "Mark I".
It's extremely old, belonged to my dad when he was a kid :)

YUP I remember this air pistol .... a friend had it - it used to be very hard to cock the lever - I remember you had to push the sight back with a thumb and pull the top rod up to cock it and load the pellet - RIGHT ?

Yeah. To give an idea of just how hard to cock it is, I couldn't do it until I was 13 :P
And that means it's got some serious brute force penetration which more than makes up for the lack of any in-barrel rifling.

Is it possible to kill anyone with an air pistol , and wher do you get one of those uberkhienem whateverthingamajig it is ?

I've used a friend's Weihrauch HW77 - beautiful (and powerful air rifle) that. Very accurate too!

Quite a powerful air pistol!

Unlikely, but as another poster mentioned - you can kill with a pea also! However, a powerful air rifle could likely kill someone. These aren't toys after all :)

The damage you can do depends on the power of the weapon and the type of pellets used... here are four types of .177" pellets I have ... with a powerfull air rifle the hunting pellets could kill small game - like a rabbit - at 25 metres. My Weihrach 35E had that power. I must add that I have NEVER used the hunting pellets. :)

About 25 years back, I had bought one "National" (India) air rifle for about Rs.500/-. It had good build quality and one could kill a bird sitting on the electric power line very easily. I stopped using it after seeing my brothers killing birds indiscriminately. Recently when I happened to see it, though not working, it has not rusted much. But don't know if the brand is still available. BTW it had rifling inside the barrel and used .22 pellets.
