hey guys,
suggest a good config. the best.
i need to buy a new one and let's just say that im not on a shoe string budget.
include, cpu, mobo, chipset, gfx card, ram, power, sound card.

thanks

oh man........
The best will cost you in excess of 1lac ;)
But here is a config without blowing too much of money.

Athlon64 320+ (S939). aprox 9.5-10K
ASUS A8N SLI deluxe motherboard. 12-13K
1GB Transcend PC3200 RAM Rs.6600
17" Philips 107 C6 monitor, FLAT 7.5-8K
Or
19" Viewsonic/Samsung 12-13K.
Liteon 16X DVD-RW RS.5.5K
Subscribe to Chip magazine for 3 years and get Logitech wireless K/B mouse combo as a give, you will get good magazine + a wireless keyboard and mouse.
thats what I did :P
Zebronics 500Watt ATX 2.03 PSU for 2K.
If your budget permits go for Antec 450 watt for around 5K.
Sound blaster Audigy2 Zs Sound card. Rs.5750
A cabinet of your choice Rs.1.5-2.5K(depends on choice).
If you want a high end gaming system then go for XFX 6800GT PCI expres for 25.5K.
If you have less budget then go for XFX 6600GT PCI express for 11.5-12K.
Speakers= Question of debate. Ask for demos of couple of speakers and decide yourself. I got mine custom made for 7K with amplifier. they are comming this monday.

How much does this cost btw?

CPU
~~~
CPU:- AMD Athlon 64 - socket 939 - Winchester Core only
I would suggest you 3200[2Ghz]/3500[2.2Ghz]
OR
CPU:- AMD Athlon 64 - socket 939
If you have loads of money to waste go for FX-53[2.4Ghz] or FX-55[2.6Ghz]
If you know to overclock i would suggest you 3200+ which can be overclocked to 2.6 Ghz easily on the ASUS A8N SLi Motherboard.
And you can enjoy the power of FX-55 which is above 35K @
Motherboard - GPU - PowerSupply
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ASUS A8N Si is a Sli Chipset infact it supports 2xPCIE-x16 Gpus

You can connect 2GPU's on the same Motherboard thats SLi Technology
Just see the FPS zooming up with 2 GPU's pumping power to your games.

IF you intend to go for a 2x6800GT setup ----> look for a PSU which gives
you atleast 21-24Amps on the 12V line for eg. Anter True Power 480W or 430W

IF you intend to go for a 2x6600GT setup ----> look for a PSU which gives
you atleast 20Amps on the 12V line for eg. Anter Smart Power 450W

IF you intend to go for a 1x6800GT setup ----> look for a PSU which gives
you atleast 20Amps on the 12V line for eg. Anter Smart Power 450W or
Anter Smart Power 400W

IF you intend to go for a 1x6600GT setup ----> look for a PSU which gives
you atleast 20Amps on the 12V line for eg. Power Safe 500W or Power Safe 400W [Gold Plated].

A PowerSupply is very critical on the Sli based Motherboard
one of our members "DarkLord" had to find a 2 PSU solution to run his PC
when 2 GPU's were connected in SLi.

Ram
~~~
Transcend DDR400 PC3200 2x512 MB plastic sealed
[as there are many fake Transcends in the market get it from a good dealer]
Other Devices
~~~~~~~~~
Monitor:- Samsung SyncMaster 793MB or 793DF [17"]

HDD:- 2x80GB or 2x120GB Samsung 7200 SATA have low CPU Usage and have gr8 transfer speeds.[Maxtor had some issues with the A8N Sli read somewhere]

DVD Writer :- Pioneer DVR- 109 [Fastest] and the best according to me others might have different opinion.

Writes and reads DVD-R/RW, +R/RW , +RDL and CD-R/RW formats
support for -R Dual Layer will be added in the later Firmware revisions

DVD/CD buffer under-run protection

Max. 16x writing speed for DVD-R/+R
Max. 6x writing speed for DVD-R Dual Layer and +R Double Layer Discs
Max. 6x writing speed for DVD-RW
Max. 8x writing speed for +RW

DVD data capacity of 4.7 GB per single-sided disc and 8.5 GB Dual/Double layer discs

Floppy:- Sony White & Samsung has black one.

Cabinet:- Antec Slk1650b for 3.5K , Antec SLK3700AMB or BQE [without PSU] for 4.5to5K
also check the VIP range of cabinets here
http://www.kunhar.com/vipcabinets/midtoweratx.htm
also check Zebronics cases here
http://www.zebronics.net/computercases.asp

I feel a gr8 system like this must have a gr8 cabinet if you have the budget
go for Antec SLK3000AMB[Beige color] or BQE[Black Color].

Sound Card:- The ASUS A8N Sli has a onboard sound card but the CPU usage is very high. If you have some more money to put in go for

If you have deep pockets go for
Sound Blaster® Audigy® 4 Pro [ya guys 4] [not sure if available here]

Speakers:-

Creative Inspire 2500 2.1 Rs1.9K [Best sound quality in 2.1 category]

Mouse:- and good Microsoft or Logitech Optical Mouse[many options]

Well thats all i can suggest for the Best AMD Sli Rig.
There are many other things which can make your rig the best but
that parts are not available here in India.

Well i hope you will be satisfied with this.

Check the Master Hardware Contact List on TE for any hardware you want

Well what else can I add to that list!! :-)Try to get water cooling from Prime ABGB if you can get it in your budget. Ideal would be watercooling for CPU and GFX card.

edit: Oh yes!! Did any1 mention a PSU? Go for Antec 550 truepower to power any kind of monster SLI rig. Better to be safe than sorry.

good post that deserves reps but wanted to ask the point of getting a soundcard like audigy 4 pro or audigy 2 etc and then pair it with an inspire series .

good choices might be altec lansing 621 or the altec lansing mx5021 :D

"The Best"

Thats why i did mention the audigy 4 pro

And regarding the speaker thing i have personally heard the Creative 5200
and must say its absolutely awesome[i also wanted him to save some money]

If he wants to invest more in the speakers nothings beats
Creative MegaWorks THX 550 [Its sound quality is unmatchable i feel]

I havent heard Altec Lansing so dont want to say anything about it.
it might also be gr8

@daviescool - Antec 550 truepower not req at all [i feel will be waste of money]

When you get a higher watt psu and if that much amount of watts are not consumed that powe ris converted in heat and lost.

so its wise to get psu's as i have mentioned in my post.[hope i am not wrong]

i didnt ask about your choice in sound cards but your choice in speakers.. the inspire series in my opinion doesnt sound very good (sucks:P)

darky is using an antec 550w as well i think

Well if hes gonna get a audigy4 then why not get the gigaworks or logitech 5500 or klipsh 5.1
cuz those wud be the BEst...but only in my opinion....

DO NOT GO FOR CREATIVE INSPIRE 2.1 atleast the one I heard.

Man

if you don't have to much money you can invest in
Altec Lansing 251(5.1) or ATP 5(4.1) or VS3151(5.1-confirm please)

more money
altec lansing 5100 or logitech z5300

loads of money
altec lansing 641 or creative megaworks 5.1 or logitech z 680 etc

Creative Inspire is the crappiest speaker you can get. You are better off with an Altec ATP3 atleast. But if you are investing in a sound card, better get a 621 or MX 5021. The latter has simply outstanding audio quality at a little steep 9K price.

Hehe if he really has a good budget, then he can wait for the Altec Lansing HMX 7051 ;). 5.1 with a dd decoder, 650W RMS, 10" Sub, coax, optical, analog, headphone jacks and even has a usb input so u don't need to have a sound card at all in the machine. I'm waiting for that to come to the market as well :).
