PC Peripherals good config needed

Big deal ,when saving few grands in the sound card you invest much more in the speaker, rather go for creative gigaworks 7.1 with sound card combo,

also,i phoned trifin in dlih and they said that there is shortage of materials or something and prices have increased and are likely to increase further.

altec lansing 251
was :
4500
Is:
5000

These prices i think are before raise in prices :
5100
10k
mx5021
10k
fx 6021 or something
11k

Well few things i would like to add in this config...

A WD 36 GB Raptor... Makes a lot of a difference with that setup...

If going for 6800GT get a 19" flat... Also you can go in for a X800XL(Strange... Nobody pointed that out)...

If going for a 6600GT get a 17" flat... If you can find a vannila 6800... That would be better... Overclocks well...

And dont forget to buy a good Desk and a comfy Chair to enjoy your rig... Its that important and nobody cares about it strangely...

a couple of questions to fuel the ongoing discussion:

1. Wudnt a PSU with 24-pin power connector (such as the Antec TP 550 or NeoPower) be a better choice? No doubt 20-pin PSUs work fine, but since budget is not a concern, why not go with something that compliments the mobo better? Also, I hear 24-pin PSUs provide more juice for that extra oomph from CPU/GPU.

2. Also, Wudnt it be a prudent choice to get a 17" (the 12ms one) TFT instead of a CRT? TFTs are very cheap these days afterall.

good suggestions. but for lcds, check out some reviews or better yet get a demo before buying instead of just looking at the ms rating. eg samsung 172x is supposed to be great for gaming but has a horrible viewing angle.. looks best only when viewed straight on.

hey quad-master,

if i went in for the fx-55, xfx 6800GT PCI-e,ASUS A8N Si,Transcend DDR400 PC3200 2x512 MB, Samsung SyncMaster 793MB or 793DF [17"],80 gb Samsung 7200 SATA alone. say i got the rest already. how much do you think that'd come to? and what power supply should i use?

Me thinks ViewSonics are supposed to be the best in the LCD segment. (At least according to the Techtree guys. They just reviewed a 8 ms 17" LCD for a sweet price of 18,000. :P)

FX-55 35-40K
XFX 6800GT 25K
A8N Sli 12.5K
Transcend DDR400 PC3200 2x512 6.5K
Syncmaster 793MB 8.5K , 793DF 7.9K
80GB Samsung 3-3.2K

These are the approximate costs they might vary

Are you considering overclocking your computer no need to waste money on
that FX-55. I really want to save your money its really not at all worth.
Instead go for a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester Socket 939 it would cost you 14-15K saving your 25K which you can invest in some high quality ram
like Corsair or the Kingston HyperX DDR400 PC3200.
Invest in Antec True Power 550 W PSU
Invest in a good cabinet like Antec SLK3000B [has loads of space & gr8 cooling] cost approx 4-6K[not sure]

yes, they do, they make a lot of difference in terms of cooling, so if u can afford a CM wavemaster, it wud be icing on the cake ;)

yes they do.
A good cabinet offers smooth airflow within it there by providing lower temperature than others.
A good cabinet has a good layout and doesnt have rough edges.
A good cabinet also comes with screws that can tighten without using a screwdriver.
A good cabinet also offers goodies like a mobo tray and a 120mm fan as standard.

so all in all, i should hope to shell out in excess of 70k for the basics.. thats without all the cd drives and so on and so forth eh?
righto.. how much would a 19" or 21" monitor be?
