i would love to try some good dark chocolate.
I have tried Bournville and frankly speaking did not like it that much.
When my father goes abroad, he gets some fine dark chocolates, and bournville is nothing like that.

So could you guys suggest something?

Nothing beats bottle's recipe for dark chocolate:

1 part black paint

1 part chocolate

Mix well. Add more black paint if needed.

Hmm, even me on lookout for some good dark chocolate. possibly a 1Kg bar :lick:

Speaking of Cadbury's, I recently tried one of their rum and raisin bar. Their idea of rum was some chemical which smelled close to rum and left a bad taste in mouth after some time. There were lots of raisins in the bar though. Unfortunately, the chocolate was rough (like granular in nature). After this, I totally dont feel like eating any Cadbury's chocolates anymore. :|

Lindt and Godiva might be available in some retail stores along with online also.

Although I don't know where to find them in India but you could look for Valrhona Noir Extra Amer.
Green and Black’s is also a good one.

I have always found extremely good chocolate in countries like Brazil, Holland and Belgium.

Amul dark chocolate, for the price Rs.20 this is the most VFM i ever found :)

Better than bournville.

Which ones did he get ?

Thirding Lindt 80% dark chocolate, the best dark chocolate I've ever. They're available in most retail stores (Reliance Fresh, Food Bazaar type) . If youre looking at the more budget variety I've tried the Schottogen dark (spelling?) chocolate and it was quite good.

You can try Lindt 99% dark. I got it from Singapore airport it was intense, rich an a wonderful satiating experience. I would recommend trying 85% first before jumping on it.

Also heard Amedei - Chuao is among the best chocolates, was featured in top 3 on this site (Seventypercent.com - home of the chocolate connoisseur). So I tried finding some dealers here and was lucky to find one in Mumbai. Quote/Address below:

Code Description Unit Net Weight Pack No. Boxes per carton MRP Rs./Unit (Incl. of all taxes)

5350 TAVOLETTA CHUAO - 70% 50g 1 12 815

You can buy one for trial. Just have it picked up from our office at Sakinaka.

Here is the address and the contact is Yogesh or Niwrutti.
Chenab Impex Private Limited

J1/A, Ansa Industrial Estate,

Saki Vihar Road, Saki Naka,

Mumbai 400072.

Tel: 91 (22) 28478880/28471623
We can offer a 10% discount if you will buy 1 case. Amedei is always transported and stored at controlled temperature. So we cannot despatch by courier. If you order a case, we will deliver.

P.S: If you do order, let me know your reviews as well :)

Best I've had is Green and Black's. 72% and 85%.

Lindt is a distant second :P

Nice thread coz I love dark chocolates too. @SunnyBoi: Never heard of Green and Black's. Any idea which places I should look for in Mumbai?
Lindt is good and has good availability. I didn't like the 85% cocoa though(too bitter)...I prefer not more than ~70% cocoa.
Godiva is very popular too but haven't seen it in Mumbai shops.
Funny, nobody mentioned Guylian so far in this thread. Very nice Belgian chocolates. The seashells chocolate box is a classic. I also liked their no sugar Dark Chocolate bar. I had got these from Shoprite in Nirmal Lifestyle Mulund but am sure these should also be available in other shops too.
Also agree that Schogetten is a decent cheaper alternative for dark chocolates.
I suggest that people also mention where to get their recommended chocolates from in this thread.

Saw it in a shop called Niligiri's in BLR. I've no clue where you can get it otherwise.

Its a small bar and says 65%.

No idea.

Hershey's Dark Chocolate, like most Hershey's chocolate, is crap. (IMHO :P)

In Bombay, the two most accessible places that I've usually bought dark chocolate from are

1) Haiko Supermarket - Hiranandini, Powai - Usually carry Lindt dark/extra dark and also the nice orange flavoured dark chocolate. I have also seen them selling Godiva bars.

2) Crawford Market - A large number of shops sell imported chocolates. You should find most major international brands. Also, if you don't see them on display, ask the shopkeepers. They usually run out of stock and are willing to give you a call when items come back in stock if you request them to do that.

Try Green & Blacks and Scharffen Bergen if you find them. (I do remember purchasing Scharffen Bergen from a shop at Crawford Market).

Lindt's dark chocolates are awesome but Godiva is equally good too.

I haven't tried Green and Black's dark chocolates, any idea if we can get them in india or order them perhaps?

Damn, is there anything that you can't find in Crawford market? :S

Btw, you seriously like the orange flavored Lindt? :O

Yep, I like it. :D

Also, if you see Dark Chocolate with a bit of Sea Salt, don't hesitate to try that flavour. Sounds odd but is brilliant.

I think you can find anything at Crawford market. Most of the shopkeepers have an idea of the stuff being imported into the country/Bombay area. I was trying to find a bottle of Baileys Irish Cream and they said they didn't stock it but gave me the address for a wine shop off Colaba Causeway that had it.

+1, Lindt has a couple of dark chocolates, one with sea salt, and one with chilli. Try those, gentlemen.
