HKEPC Hardware - IT News

One of the most noticeable cut, Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40 GHz/4MB L2 x 2/1066MHz FSB), which is going to launch on Jan 7 2007, is planned to be cut from $851 to $530, a 37.7% off. Meanwhile, Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66 GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB) and E6600 (2.4 GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB) is planned to cut from $530 and $316 to $316 and $224 respectively, a 40.3% and a 29.1% off.

Over and above, though Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13 GHz/2MB L2/1066MHz FSB) and E6300 (1.83 GHz/2MB L2/1066MHz FSB) haven’t got too much cut in this plan, says from $224 to $183 (18.3%) and from $183 to $163 (10.9%), Intel would like to give a special gift to this models, a 2MB extra L2 Cache (total 4MB L2 Cache). These 4 MB L2 Cache versions, namely Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13 GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB) and E6320 (1.83 GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB), are going to launch on the same day of price cutting.

In addition, the previously planned Intel Core 2 Duo E6390, which does not support for VT, has been canceled in the future plan.

On the entry-level dual core market, besides Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 GHz/2MB L2/800MHz FSB), which will be launched on Jan 21 2007, there is another E4400 (2 GHz/2MB L2/800MHz FSB) coming in Q2 2007 set at a price of $133. On the day of E4400’s launch and onward, E4300 will has a new price from $163 to $113, a 30.7% off.

Looks like my plans for a new rig will have to be pushed back a bit ! e4400 with 10x at $133 !

Processor Speed FSB L2 cache Q1 price Q2 price

Whats the time it takes for the price cuts to be implemented over here in india. Will i get the E6400 with the reduced price in Bangalore after jan 21

It wont reduce anywhere before Q2 2007 and in India no way...
But gr8 for guys getting it abroad after few months.

Wonder why Intel would announce price cuts so early - this would only make a lot of people delay their purchase.

<wishful thinking>
The price cuts will actually happen in Feb/Mar.
</wishful thinking>

Great news ... cheaper c2d's and maybe cheaper ram by the time I'm ready to upgrade :)

Cheaper C2Ds yes, cheaper DDR2 unlikely. There's going to be a mass migration to C2Ds and Vista ( and indirectly DDR2 ).

Plus, I just bought some DDR2, would hate it if memory prices fell before I finally assemble my rig ;-) .

Well atleast ppl overseas will get it at discounted price by JAN-7 :no:

I am without PC since a month...cant hold on for another 2-3 months..:ashamed:

I guess ill have to go with $183 E6300 2MB Cache......

Damn if i could wait for 2-3 months..i could get it at $163 and 4MB Cache :@ :@ .....But i just...cant....

Atleast they could give the official dates of availability in India....but nothings concrete rite now..!!:huh:

Any piece of Advice fellas....:(

well when c2d came to india. i think it came just 10 - 15 days after it released in usa & the pricing was pretty much similar to usa. around 500- 1000rs more.
so i dont see the pricedrop taking 3 months to take effect here. i think by end of jan or feb pricedrops should be in place here in india.

@poboy - if u havent noticed. ddr2 prices have already started to reduce. ddr2@1000 is available for 300-310$ in usa & ddr2@800 is for around 210-220$.

@poboy : did you read the link in my previous post ...

Hynix claims that as the 60nm process ramps manufacturing cost of the 1Gb DRAM is expected to decline up to 50 percent when compared to first generation 80nm technologies. The resulting 1Gb package size will allow Hynix to cost-efficiently manufacture 4GB and higher density RDIMMs (Registered DIMM) and FBDIMMs (Fully Buffered DIMM).

What abt launch of E6320 n others,that wìll surely b in Q2 or evn latr!!
on paper its 4MB cache
but in practise what diff will 6320 make?

is it worth to wait so long for it ? besides we r not sure if it'll overclock as gud as current c2ds

The prices of the really good stuff, read "D9", is going up afaik. Anyway, just got some really bad news, the person getting me the memory got a email from Newegg saying "This email is to notify you that we are having a problem processing your order. Your order currently cannot pass the address verification stage.". Trying to clear it up, but the person leaves the US on Friday. Keeping fingers crossed.

How does e4300 would compare with e6300...spec. wise there shouldn't be large difference :S
