Guys I need a good quality mic for recording screencasts. I need to be able to have some decent amount of control over the back ground noise.

I have no experience in this thing.

Budget is somewhere around 3 to 4k.

@ajay, thank you again. I have been recommended "Yeti Blue mic" and its quite out of my reach. Any other options?

U1 and U37 seem to be good, but I need the feature where I can set from which direction the sound is to be picked up from.

Any ideas for alternatives?

Yeti Blue is an amazing mic, and pretty cheap ONLY if one can bring it down for you from the states (<100$).

You can check out the Behringer C-1U Behringer STUDIO CONDENSER MICROPHONE C-1U - Condenser Microphones - Buy online at the guaranteed lowest price in India - BAJAAO - India - BAJAO - Buy and Review Musical Instruments, Pro Audio, Studio, P.A. Audio Equipment for 4.5K which is a condenser USB mic with a cardioid pickup pattern which makes it ideal for recording a single person in front of the mic. Most of these mics are overpriced in India, but I feel this one covers all your requirements.

^thnx monk, but it doesnt come with a stand. A good stand seems to cost quite a bit :(. ANy alternatives?

I check through shop your world and Yeti costs 7500 from amazon. Is it worth it?

the Yeti is much better than the behringer since it offers variable pickup patterns, but if it's worth 7500, I'm not sure since all usb mics seem overpriced here. It just hurts that you have to pay 50% extra to get the mic here.

Blue also offers the snow flake? globe? for around 3k abroad so it may come to 5k shipped. Not sure how it compares to the behringer, but it has it's own stand.

I saw the price of Yeti being $150 even at Bestbuy. But amazon stocks it far cheaper. DOnt know how much it will cost after shipping though.

@Monk, below are my choices

CAD C37 (3.7k), Behringer C 1U(4.5k), Yeti Snowball(5.2k)

I am pretty new to this, so can you compare them to each other as best as you can pls?

My basic requirements is to create a screencast and thats it. Atleast for the foreseeable future.

Sorry about the late reply. I would suggest just searching for each mic on Youtube. Most realistic way to gauge the microphone's quality. There are plenty of videos of the Snowball.
