Hi Fellas,

I need a suggestion for a good 5.1 channel DSP for a car. I can get it imported from US . Preferably Pioneer.

Thanks :D

Umm ... I'm not sure about that .. Its my friend's car.

May be I should put my question like this :

Suggest me the BEST DSP under $250.

:) Thanks.

Well it matters, knowing the previous setup first.

"You are only as strong as your weakest link".

Doesn't make any sense to do cosmetic changes if the internals are not top notch.

Just curious to know what the current setup is like. And what car ?

Arrey yaar.. Its for a tentative setup of his. I just need a name of a particular model that is popular right now and is a value for money. I do understand that all other stuff needs to be known before suggesting a part like in computers but here .. I just need a suggestion for a good DSP .. I could probably put up a suggestion thread for ICE components again sometime later when he plan to buy all other stuff.
So, for now , its about the Best DSP under $250. :D

Thanks fellas.

Waiting for your replies.

I think you did not get my point. There must be some use behind your DSP use !!! Let us know about it so we can guide you the best way out.

^ Better sound quality and customization options.. He had this Pioneer EQ-6500 earlier .. went kaput and he's on a lookout for a new, better one.

Why do I have a feeling that you actually just want to know what's the best DSP under $250 without even having a purpose for it? ;)

Either ways.. its a pointless thread unless you can post up the full config.

I do not understand how can a EQ -> Better SQ ????

What type of custom work do you need to do ???

I am using Alpine PXA-H701 do you need something on these lines or something else..

You got my point there :P ! Now can you let me know of a DSP under $250 without me having a purpose ?
kthxbye

DSP is a very broad term for devices that can do a lot of different functions ranging from simple EQ to time alignment, etc. That is why everyone needs to know what custom options he's looking to use the DSP for, so that they can accordingly suggest a unit that meets the required features.

Quite a few head-units have enough processing in them to negate the need for a separate DSP unit altogether.

Edit: And yeah, a DSP cannot 'improve' sound quality.. running the signal through another unit degrades the sound quality a notch.

I used the term 'better Sound Quality' in context of altering(read Equalizing) the sound output (read bettering the sound quality so that it feel good to my ears).I don't have dime an idea about car audio hence letting you guys know the whole configuration would be a little tough a job as I'm just instructed to get a DSP for under $250. I'm amazed about how this thread has got these much replies but neither of the posts has a model suggestion. :(

I hope that if more posts follow, it has some model suggestions for me to help me go ahead with a purchase.

Hope I make myself clear here.

TIA
