This should hopefully put to rest the vicious rumors about EXT4 being an unstable filesystem and causing random data loss. :bleh:

Google is currently in the middle of upgrading from ext2 to a more up
to date file system. We ended up choosing ext4. This thread touches
upon many of the issues we wrestled with, so I thought it would be
interesting to share. We should be sending out more details soon.

geeks and nergs of the univers rejoice!

apparently people are looking forward to that "butter FS" (b-tree-fs aka btrfs) for it sophisticated industrial grade features :)

^^nope Reiser is more of a secure FS, for performance I always opted for XFS , still I have all my data dumped into XFS, will shift to ext4 once i have 1tb hdd at hand :)

Great move by google ;) Ted got hired again ;)

ReiserFS took quite a beating after Mr. Reiser was indicted for murdering his wife. No distro wanted to touch it with a 10 foot pole. Technologically though, ReiserFS is a really fast filesystem :)
