Me too... Me too...
But its a lot better then to go to singapore...

On to topic....

Awasome LCD mate... Welcome to the *thin side* :P...

more pics please. play some games and let us know if there is any ghosting.
how about scaling? does it scale for games not supporting WS?

just played Quake 3 at 800*600(since it doesnt have native widescreen support) it seemed to scale very well. here are a few screenies

And movies play pretty well too. The only problem is VCDs look bad. Pretty bad. But divx/xvid movies are nice...

Both are xvids. The screenshots dont do complete justice. In person, they look better. Have to check out how widescreen encodes do..

I was really tempted to buy the 940BW on Sat but managed to drag myself outta there unscathed

you should have :P its really worth it

Awasome LCD mate... Welcome to the *thin side*

Thanks... and the "thin side" is even better than the "dark side" :P

Isn't there a backlight leakage on top, seems so from ur image?Wondering coz I am returning my Acer 1916S that had great specs and no dead pixels but the backlight leakage totally turned me off.Might just buy a Samsung but I'm a pefectionist when it comes to displays.Even the Dell FP series and the viewsonic 2025 have this issue. may be to a lesser extent, from what I could get off multiple forums.Isn't there a perfect LCD?I can get it for about $275 locally with taxes incl. but the newer 931B+ has a 2000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time as well at the same price.

thanks for the efforts. looks like it has scaled pretty well. nice lcd.

as for me, i had narrowed down to 2 LCDs:

940BW:
+ price of 16k for 19"WS is sweet.
+ TN panel with 6ms, good for gaming
+ scales well (as per your screenies)
+ HDCP
-- TN panel, 6bit color, not so good for photo editing etc.
-- less viewing angle

VX2025WM:
++ MVA panel, 8bit color, hence great color reproduction
+ 20".
+ large viewing angle.
- scaling, does not scale but stretches non-native resolutions to fit the screen.
- price, 28.5k (as per latest quote from Roop) is a bomb.
- no HDCP
- no height adjustment / swivel

to check your monitor even further, you can check for dead/stuck pixels and banding. there is an app called "Dead Pixel Buddy" and "Gradient checker" or something. google it.

Congrats pal... Nice LCD and cool price:D

No one is gonna take my ruby away:@

lol, i dont need her :P keep her safe from others ;)

You better take off that "Poor Man's Rig" from your sig no...

hey, its still a poor man's rig. compared to what others have here, this is nothing :P

@raj_pol, if you are ok with widescreen, id seriously recommend the 940bw.

@ SpitefulPentium, yup, it scales pretty well. Just played NFS underground @ 800*600, and i actually thought it was better than a CRT. You get a more immersive experience with the widescreen. Or it could just be me :P

like you pointed out, the 6-bit panel would be a disadvantage for graphics apps. But the price/performance was too sweet to miss.

and yup, there are no dead pixels (at least non that i could see). Checked for it at the shop itself. and thanks for the apps,. ill give it a shot today.
